Re: Who's going to be a Mile High in Denver 10-18-11?
What a fantastic, wonderful and FUN day (and night) yesterday was!
While Denver might not rock the BIGGEST tailgates in the world of JB, I can definitely assure those not in attendance that bigger isn't always better because what I personally witnessed was an amazing display of fun, kindness, and unity amongst all of the beautiful strangers that showed up early and often to tailgate at this concert.
I am glad to have met some of the people from here on the board (Todd, you're one cool cat man!!!!!).
My choice drink bounced between Mango Margaritas and Lime Margaritas for the entire day.
I'd like to thank ADVIL for being my proud sponsor today!
Here's one of the best stories of my day:
After meeting Parrothead Red early on in the day, my friend and I continued to bounce around to the different tailgate parties going on. Well, about two hours before the concert, I run into Red again and he says, "Hey, there is a guy here who really wants to meet you. I forgot his name, but he wants to meet Mile High Pirate."
Thinking nothing of it I say, "Sure, okay."
20 minutes later, Red introduces me to the guy and, well................
This "guy" turns out to be my long lost friend MATT that I went to High School with AND roomed with our freshman year in College!!!!! It was amazing and unexpected to say the least. We didn't expect to find each other this way, I'm sure!
Matt is on the board here but I didn't look up his nickname before writing this.
It was so great to see him and highlighted a great day!
My last minute costume was a hit and it got me on the jumbo tron during the concert. That was fun because a few people in my section during the show clapped high fives with me when they realized it was me.
All in all, JIMMY BUFFETT delivered some GREAT Ocean Vibes to our land locked state!
Great times were had by all and I will forever remember this great day!

He said something to the tune of "I promise I won't make you wait 8 years again. Let's try for Red Rocks next year." and "See you next summer."lime rickie wrote: Wow, did he really say that? Depending on the time of year that could be a worthy road trip.
Overall was a great concert. My first concert not on the floor (and my first that I can remember because I wasn't totally blitzed from tailgating). Even up in the nosebleeds though we had a good time (although much more subdued) and the sound quality and sightline was still pretty fantastic.
Wife and I didn't get to the lots until after six and had been too busy dealing with car issues to prepare any tailgate stuff. So it sucks that we missed out on that. I do believe my friend and his tiny girlfriend stumbled into some BNers tailgate and bummed some jello shots.

We made it on the big screen, thanks the Mrs' DQ's hats she made for the 3 of us. I probably won't be able to post pics until after Vegas but we had an amazing time and will be doing our best to hold Jimmy to his word of "see you next summer".

A friend of mine told me that his friend at AEG told him JB is looking to play 3 nights at Red Rocks this summer.....it's 7 months instead of 7 years this time!

I swear my face is sunburned, I am not blushing. It was so great to spend time with you & your hubby.I could look over seeing you two dancing during the concert & I remembered why we all love Jimmy so.buffettbride wrote:Meeting Keith was totally fab. He is so lovely! Just the sweetest person you could ever meet.
I am so glad I got to see my favorite Denver peeps. I needed some P and E time!
Will be awesome if Jimmy sticks to his word and plays Red Rocks next time. That would be a real treat and very close to my house!
The wife & I will be here for a Red Rocks show!!!

Wow! Awesome time. Loved the show and the short tailgate time my wife and I had with everyone. Finally got to meet Penny, E, Mal, Matt and Keith in person. Had some nut goo. Just got home a while ago after getting lost in IKEA on the way home
Haven't had a chance to look at the pics my wife got, but I'll go through them tomorrow and post some.
Good times!
If he plays Red Rocks, I will be there, come hell or high water.

And just for the record, it was 7 years since Jimmy was last here, not 8, but I won't quibble.

Here's a few pictures. My wife didn't get as many as I thought she would, she's usually crazy with the camera.

After viewing the linked pictures, I am almost 90% certain Jeff and his miniature girlfriend (looks 8 years old but is really 26 or so) were over at Hippolyte's tailgate. I joined them for about 10 minutes with my wife before I determined that I had left my credit card at the restaurant my wife and I ate at. Luckily not the same card the e-tickets were on.

Okay....so if Jimmy DOES do Red Rocks......what's the skinny on tailgating there? Is there just 1 lot that feeds the entire venue? Is there any shade? Easy in & easy out of the venue? And most of all what is their alcohol tollerance policy?JoeBu24 wrote:A friend of mine told me that his friend at AEG told him JB is looking to play 3 nights at Red Rocks this summer.....it's 7 months instead of 7 years this time!
Got some frequent flyer miles that WILL be used next year so need to weight my options before using them!!!!!!
