nice article!
McAnally has been front and center with Buffett's Coral Reefer Band since the early 1990s, serving as backup singer, guitarist, and on-stage foil. He's also penned a host of songs for the head Parrothead, including "License to Chill," "It's My Job," "Coast of Carolina," "Last Man Standing" and more. As a very tall dude with a massive mane of red hair and thick Southern baritone, he seems less eager to hit the beach with a surfboard than to search for barbecue with a very large truck.

Well done and well deserved. Mac's such an humble guy. I think he's finally becoming a *little* more comfortable in the spotlight. His new CD LIVE IN MUSCLE SHOALS is a great compilation of songs. Add in the energy of a live performance ... it's a winner for sure ...
He tells stories between the numbers. The one about him being in a lime green leisure suit at a honky tonk is hysterical.
And, the encore is I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE. And he's fabulous on it. Just freakin' fabulous! Way to go, Mac.

I agree that being a Reefer has been a benefit for him, but I also think that Mac would have found a great deal of success on his own.......what a talent!

This. Every single reefer has enough talent to make it on their own. I'm not sayin' the summer gig hasn't made life easier but Buffet didn't "make" any of them.Bfan53again wrote:I agree that being a Reefer has been a benefit for him, but I also think that Mac would have found a great deal of success on his own.......what a talent!
