Big Deal within a 4-5 hour drive I have his hotel (soon to be) 2 of his casinos, a couple of Margaritavilles, his sisters restraunt and the white sand beaches that inspired him. I also believe that when he decides to "retire" he will just open a Branson style music business at his casino in Biloxi.
Question on Detroit. Other Bob Segar and Prince who else has really came from there? Not trying to troll but I am admitting my Detroit music history is quite lacking.

Wayne's point is simple. Don't complain that you don't get a better date when there are a lot of places that would kill just to get one date! Nobody deserves it more than anyone else. Just be grateful and enjoy the show!

The Saturday show in Birmingham is the first time he's been there in about 10 years. So be glad that he is gracing your area with his presence.
I know I am.

Prince is from Minnesota. I think your thinking MOTOWN and KID ROCK. Also from the "Detroit" area is the MOTOR CITY MAD MAN himself.... Uncle Teddy, Otherwise known as TED NUGENT.

Um there is this thing called "mo town" music which launched tons of national artists. Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Temptations, Smoky Robinson, martha and the Vandellas.....

Not that this has a lot to do with Jimmy playing Pine Knob. But the names above are barely a start of the musicians from Michigan.

Like I say, I'll take any day. Pine Knob is my favorite place to see Jimmy. Small, intimate, beautiful grunds, plentiful/clean bathrooms, servers that come to your seat to sell refreshments.....

Just scrolling through the wiki, I also see these as Detroit/Michigan music acts...just to name a few

Madonna
Alice Cooper
Grand Funk Railroad
Glenn Frey
Sonny Bono :D
Bill Haley
Jack White
Mitch Ryder
Insane Clown Posse
Anita Baker
Eminem
The Knack
Marshall Crenshaw
Marvin Gaye

Love 'em or hate 'em, those people have sold millions and millions of records. Cleveland got the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but I've got to believe Detroit wasn't far behind on the list of choices.

There might be better tailgate parties (not that Pine Knob isn't great too), but it's my favorite place to see a show. I've "only" been to eight venues, but that's a pretty decent sample size. You just can't beat vendors bringing a beer to you on the lawn.

And Jimmy can play on a Monday morning for all I care, I'll find a way to get there. 8)

When I opened the thread, my comment was that during what appears to be a "crazy mixed up" concert season, Hey, maybe PK can get a Saturday date. Would it be nice if JB had shuffled the rotation to get everybody a weekend date? Hell Yes! Is that the end all/be all? Hell No. Is it tough for all the cities who get bypassed? Hell Yes! I'll be grateful to get a show. If we don't get one will I be spiteful? Hell No!

Now our fellow Michigander MSU1 obviously is taking it up a notch & that's his perogative. Surprised people are so anxious to "bag" on him about it. I know sometimes an "outsider" has the urge to come in & make a statement in rebuttal (again, their perogative), but to continuously attempt to set him straight seems a bit odd to me.

Nonetheless, it's a good time of the year with the message board heating up in anticipation of the concert season. So lets have fun with it, not be going WWE smackdown with it.

With that I'm out of the thread until some REAL news hits! 8)

I'll be there with my salsa! I kinda like the more laid back tailgate with lots of nice people.....

As far as controversy...I'll just let it flow over, around and past me.... JB is all about fun, not arguments.

You really don't want to go to history. And Prince is a Minneapolis kid, along with Morris Day and the Mut$&*&#$-$*)# TIME YO.

Jimmy, if you're out there...

In over four decades of touring I know you've saw this a countless number of times. But, that won't stop me from making my case. As many have echoed, you make our summer with your single appearance each June, July, or August. Without it, there is a void within us that our Michigan winters only hollow out that much more.

I am a young PH, only 24, but I raised myself on your music without the influence of my parents or association with anyone else who followed you. I've always been intrigued by "places other than here" and especially those that are warmer. I remember being in middle school when we took one of my favorite trips to Florida and there was a band that covered all of your music that night at the pool. The rest is history.

The thing is, this summer I am getting married on June 23rd and my fiance and I have been delaying our honeymoon in anticipation for the Pine Knob date. You're a part of our family, and we feel that our celebration wouldn't be complete without you "in attendance" in Michigan. However, my fear is that you are not coming this July. I am afraid that we'll pass up a July honeymoon as we wait and wait.

If you know you're not coming, please, please give us a shout out...Or if you are, we'll try to hang on for just a bit more.

Hoping to see you in July, once again.

While a Saturday night show would be great, I will be happy with any show at all. It's pretty simple to take a Tuesday or Thursday and make it into a Saturday! Just takes a bit of vacation time off work is all! Come rain, come 100 degree weather, the D will represent when Jimmy comes to town!
Salt air it ain't thin,
It can stick right to your skin,
And make you feel fine.
It makes you feel fine.

Sure looks like if we get a show it will be Another Tuesday night show June 26. Not shocking if it happens(see my other posts as to why)

The Knob and Jimmy are both booked for all the other dates in that time frame right now. If its not the 26th then it would have to be near Cincy's August date.
