edit: Hmm i wonder where they received the information regarding that email? Regardless, SDPHC is still planning on showing up and "leaving there vehicles there for event parking". I still plan on attending as well.TheSecretsInTheCrust wrote:Not be the rain on a sunny day, but I just read the following on the San Diego Parrot Head's website:
Our Gathering at Qualcomm before the concert is still planned; however, there has been a new development. On Monday February 27, the City of San Diego sent out an email to all law enforcement agencies, including Qualcomm security, advising them the City has and will not authorize a “Tailgate” before the Jimmy Buffett concert. It does not prohibit people from parking at Qualcomm and taking the trolley to the concert. It just advises security to be aware that tailgating is not sanctioned and to be aware of this type of activity. I am not really sure what it means to our gathering in the lot. Obviously, we should keep everything pretty low key. I will let you know if this means that we will have to change our plans so for now.
The tailgating is open to all, not just club members.
Qualcomm and the City will allow use of parking lot near the Trolley stop for a pre-concert parking. You then can take the Trolley to the concert. The cost is $5 for a day pass. There will be trolleys running after the concert, so this should not create a problem, although you can always drive to the arena and park in the Arena parking lots for a $10 fee. There should not be a fee for parking at Qualcomm, and I assume the standard rules for any type of gathering apply. This means, among other things, you may only tailgate in your own parking space and should not interfere or block other parking spaces. I also think that Qualcomm Security may frown on such things as volcanoes, tiki bars, etc.
The Trolley lot is open from early in the morning to 1 AM. We will meet in section J behind the Trolley stop.Entertainment will be provided by Jerry Gontang from 3:30 to 6pm and tips are appreciated. You cannot stay overnight and must be out by 1 AM.
This will be an informal gathering, which means there will be no added porta potties or trash cans. If you bring a RV, please consider allowing our members to use the toilets with whatever rules you require. Everyone will need to bring their own food and beverages. Kegs are not allowed in the parking unless you have a permit and liability insurance. Qualcomm also prohibits glass drinking containers. Please remember to bring your own plastic cups, trash bags, and to clean up your parking spot when you leave for the concert. The Viejas Parking Lots open at 3 PM. I believe the Arena opens 1 hour before the concert. There will be beer and wine and food available purchase in the Arena.

I think this is something the city did just to cover there ass. People will still be grilling, lawn chairs will still be laid out, and I'm sure we'll be spewing across many parking spots. Just carry on as normal and as long as we're not causing a big issue, don't have underage drinking, and no one's disrupting the public, we'll be fine.MerrickBill wrote:So, will grilling still be allowed? What about chair? Will we be kept strictly within the confines of one parking space?

Don't forget the SDPHC will have a stage with Jerry Guntang (Lead singer of Stars On The Water) playingsvedspx wrote:12 Volt Manvenom949 wrote:Alright, in preparation here's what I got for my tailgate playlist... let me know what I'm missing
