Just down the road from here on Tuesday: This guy was in a van with his estranged wife, looks like he had taken her hostage, struggle, shot and killed her her in the van and then pushed her out right in the middle of a busy road in broad daylight and drove off. Killed himself later in the day.

Trivia: This happened right in front of one of the gas stations from the DC Sniper shootings. It also happened in front of a new Chipotle. Neither appear to be related.

Sounds like Sandusky, Ohio. There are Taco Bell restaurants in those two locations, as well as a "Piercing Pagoda" (see following entry) in the Sandusky Mall at 4314 Milan Road.Tiki Torches wrote:This isn't local (in fact, I don't know where it's from) but I thought it worthy of posting:

Parrot Runs Wild At Catonsville Senior Center
thenA wayward parrot was captured after running wild all over the Catonsville Senior Center on Tuesday. Francine, a red-crowned Amazon parrot, was first spotted biting people's ankles as they got in and out of their cars in the facility's parking lot, Assistant Director Grace McDowell said.
The bird flew back up into the tree again and was coaxed down for good through a crafty combination of teamwork, a blanket, a box and Saltine crackers.

Drinking cows crash party
By Jim Patten Staff writer
BOXFORD — Six cows crashed a house party on Main Street and wound up drinking the beer left behind on a picnic table when the partygoers fled.
Police Lt. James Riter said he got a call about 9 p.m. Sunday for cows in the road on Main Street near Foster Street close to the town line with North Andover.
Riter said when he arrived, he found "evidence" in the street that the cows had been there, but the animals were gone.
He found them a short distance away on the side of the road, and they wandered into the front yard of a Main Street home.
About a dozen young adults were having a party in the backyard, so the cows sort of wandered around the house and into the backyard, their arrival drawing screams and laughter from the gathering.
Riter said the partygoers decamped to the deck, abandoning their beverages, and watched as the cows approached the picnic table.
The thirsty creatures knocked over the plastic cups of Bud Light and Miller Light beer that were left on the table and began slurping away at the beer.
"They seemed to prefer the Bud Light," Riter observed.
One of the cows tipped over a recycling bin and began drinking the beer from it, he said.
The owner of the cows showed up with a friend and nudged them back into the front yard and then onto the street. Clutching a bucket of grain, he was able to guide them, with a police escort, back to their field.

Hard to believe this sort of thing is still going on in 2012 but unfortunately, it is.

I think the problem is that so many people are willing to play a victim card, whether for themselves or for someone else, in almost every circumstance. Re-read the article — the person who was ejected is quoted as saying that “I accepted that he was on an ego-trip, and let him guide me through the club in this position before pushing me out. I was completely shocked and more saddened that this was happening than angry.” In other words, he realized that sometimes life is unfair but appeared willing to put up with it rather than create a scene.Tiki Torches wrote:Hard to believe this sort of thing is still going on in 2012 but unfortunately, it is.

It appears that somebody else, described in the article as a 25-year-old stay-at-home mother who alleges her husband was also denied service at the place "several months ago", has picked up the torch, issued (thru Facebook) the call of "aux barricades", and appears to be driving the protest.

Re: police blotter...so what's happening where you live??
I read the article and have been following this story since it first broke via a variety of different sources in this area including this one. I never once got the impression that Jonathan Wall was playing the "victim card". After the incident, he reported what happened to a police officer. The police officer agreed with him but discouraged him from taking it any further via asking for video footage of the incident, etc. because the officer said they could do any number of things to tamper with the videotape in order to make it look like Wall had done things that didn't actually take place which could make the situation much worse for him. Considering this incident as well as the other people that have since come forward with similar stories about the Downtown Sports Bar, it sounds like a blatant case of racism against select patrons to me. There is a protest planned to take place there on Saturday night. Hopefully, this will result in the bar either being shut down or forcing the owner to allow African-Americans into his establishment without incident.

Men caught smoking pot at Ocean City police headquarters
OCEAN CITY, Md. -
Ocean City police said they caught three men smoking pot in the parking lot of their headquarters.
Officers were in the parking lot of the Public Safety Building in the process of their shift change at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday when they noticed a black Hyundai with the windows down and three men in and around the vehicle.
As officers passed the men, all from Cranberry, Pa., they said they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle...

Re: police blotter...so what's happening where you live??
After reading this article from WRAL-TV do you still think Jonathan Wall was playing the "victim card"? This is from an investigative story WRAL did back in 2001 on the same bar manager who ejected Wall from the Downtown Sports Bar last weekend. In this instance it was at another club he managed at the time called The Office.Bicycle Bill wrote:I think the problem is that so many people are willing to play a victim card, whether for themselves or for someone else, in almost every circumstance. With stories such as this and more and more people coming forward with how they have been discriminated against at the Downtown Sports Bar in Raleigh, I'd say that the bar manager is definitely in the practice of discriminating against African-Americans.Four months after The Office opened, WRAL Investigates sent one white couple and one black couple, both wearing identical outfits, to try to get into the club, which closed in 2009.
The white couple, who said they didn't have a membership, were admitted and told by the doorman that they could get a membership inside the door. The black couple, however, was told that they couldn't come in and that memberships could only be obtained during daytime hours with three full days required for processing.
