I don't know how I've failed to start this guy a thread, but since moving to Key West, I have fallen in love with his live shows. I finally bought the CD tonight and I'm sitting at the Smokin' Tuna right now listening to him. He plays here all the time and he's a local musician.

If you get a chance, please check him out sometime. He's fantastic. I'll post some more back story when I'm home.

Nick puts on a really good show. There are lots of musicians in KW that people need to check out, Cory Heydon, Joe Bachman, Cliff Cody, Lewis Brice and they all play at the Tuna every few weeks.

Nick has been playing the Tuna pretty consistently for the last few months. Josh Rouse has been playing with him lately, too, which has been fun. I'm rarely on Duval, but I was walking by one day about two months ago he was playing the Gecko.

His CD is great, but his shows are unbelievable fantastic. Much of the inspiration from his album came from his first marriage. The story I was told was that he was married to Libba, who was ridiculously beautiful. He found out Libba was cheating on him and a divorce followed. I can't remember if they lived on Varela Street or the other guy did. Apparently she tried to stay on the island for some time after they split up, but Nick is rather popular with people and she was essentially voted off the island and has since moved.

I've never heard of Nick but I'm most definitely a fan of Josh Rouse. He first came onto my radar back when Ryan Adams had just left Whiskeytown and was recommending Josh's album Dressed Up Like Nebraska at his solo shows. I still don't have that one but I do have the follow up, Under Cold Blue Stars, which I love. Thanks for the heads up.

Be sure to check the Smokin' Tuna and Lazy Gecko's schedules. I know Josh plays with Nick at both venues.
