Notice that the guy most associated with that phrase came *THIS CLOSE* (imagine thumb and forefinger held about a quarter-inch apart) to being thrown out of office, but fifteen years later is considered to be a reputable elder statesman in our political system??
• Woody Allen and Roman Polanski, despite their respective contretemps, are still respected directors?
• Traci Lords is a successful mainstream actress?
• And Vanessa Williams has managed to put her Miss America/Penthouse pictures faux pas in the past and appears to be doing quite well for herself?

People's memories are short.  Lance will make it through this; maybe not totally unscathed, but I predict that within two years the only time we hear about this will be as a side-story during coverage of a cycling event like the Tour de France or the Olympics.

Actually, I'm imagining it using body parts other than fingers... :o

Is Polanski really still respected? He's made 1 relevant movie in 30 years, IMHO.
Bicycle Bill wrote:• Traci Lords is a successful mainstream actress?
Again, define "successful".
Bicycle Bill wrote:• And Vanessa Williams has managed to put her Miss America/Penthouse pictures faux pas in the past and appears to be doing quite well for herself?
What she did cost her in terms of her crown, but boosted her career, even at the time. How many Miss Americas have a career beyond that year. She got attention for a photoshoot, I bet she'd do it again.

People are supervillifying Lance. It'll never be a side-story, but since all of cycling was dirty, it'll be excused. Excused, not forgotten.
