Re: Blackberry Smoke
I watched that show on Palladia a couple of weeks ago. They were OK but it's not like I'm letting the moths out of my wallet so I can spend my money on their music. If I heard any of their songs on the radio I probably wouldn't change the station, but I wouldn't seek them out either.

I've found myself to be a bit indifferent to Blackberry Smoke as well. Perhaps I just haven't give them enough of a chance. I know of a few friends that are pretty big fans but they really haven't had that kind of effect on me.

Ditto. I've seen them a couple of times with Zac Brown Band. They just didn't flip my switch.Tiki Torches wrote:I've found myself to be a bit indifferent to Blackberry Smoke as well. Re: Blackberry Smoke
I get them mixed up with Homemade Wine and the Southern Drawl Band. Or maybe it's just their band names.

When Buffett played in Charleston last year, Homemade Wine played for free in the parking lot before the show. I walked away after 2 songs, I wasn't impressed.sonofabeach wrote:I get them mixed up with Homemade Wine and the Southern Drawl Band. Or maybe it's just their band names.

I saw them a few weeks ago at the House of Blues in Cleveland. I thought they were great...really enjoyed the show, their music, and their various styles of facial hair.

I've been lucky enough to see them a couple of times as headliners in clubs and have tickets to see them again in April. I can't imagine that the April show would be my last.

Would you prefer they have little to no hair like Jimmy?

Re: Blackberry Smoke
I remembered this thread from last year so I had to search for it ...
I saw these guys at the House of Blues last night with The Delta Saints as the opening act. Honestly, I liked The Delta Saints better. When I was in college back in the '70s, southern rock was really popular on Long Island. I listened to a lot of Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Elvin Bishop, Wet Willie, even Molly Hatchett. Blackberry Smoke, in my opinion, is the Grinderswitch of the 21st century. If they played the House of Blues again I might go see them because the tickets were pretty cheap, I like going to see live music and they're better than most of the crappy bands HoB gets down here, but I'm not running out to buy any of their CDs. Your mileage may vary.
