Thank you, thank you SunLover!

Not only do I get to listen to the songs I missed when we bailed early to beat the crowd (and basically get the heck outta the crowd), but I get to listen again and again to all of 'em!

And when the morning light comes streaming in
We'll get up and do it again
Amen

You're welcome! And you get to re-count the number of times he mentions cheese. We had that drinking game going last night!

Yes, you should be able to save them to your phone. You can scan the QR code above that takes you to the show folder for downloading. The mp3 files are encoded at 256kbps at constant bit rate. Most newer phones should support that format and bit rate.

I'm not sure you can save the files directly to your phone. You need to use a music management program to do that. I would suggest Media monkey. It's free, and easy to use. Works perfect with my iphone4s.

I can't speak about iPhones since I have not used one, but I would guess the process is the same at it is for Androids. For Android phones, use your web browser (either stock or downloaded) to browse to the show folder. Once you are there, try using a long press to download or save each file to the phone. The trick is finding which folder the browsers saves the files to. Try checking in folders like Downloads, Media, or Music. It may be on the phone's memory or on an external SD card.

Once you find the files, your stock music player should be able to open the files.

Molly, I don't think you can actually download an mp3.

Don't the apps just save a link to the mp3 in a player?

Can you actually listen when offline?

Using itunes you can save mp3's to your iphone. I'm sure there are other app's that would play them also.

iTunes does support self recorded mp3 files as well as commercially purchased m4a files. Using iTunes should work to transfer the files to an iPhone. iTunes should drop the files in the correct folder, so the iPhone can find and play them.

Do we know if Molly has an iPhone or an Android phone? I just mentioned an Android phone since I am more familiar with Androids. I do use iTunes, but don't use iStuff with it.

I thought Molly was asking about downloading with her phone.

She has a Pantech Flex, which I think has an android operating system.

I've often wondered if I could download the mp3 files here on my iPhone instead of just playing them, but I never wanted to try it.

Does it affect your server bandwidth use when people play instead of download and play.

Streaming vs downloading does use a bit of my server bandwidth, but I have an unlimited bandwidth deal, so that is not a problem. Of course, users with a limited data plan on their cell provider should monitor their usage when streaming. I recommend downloading to the phone when possible so you can listen offline (when there is no cell reception available).

Yes, the Pantech Flex is an Android device.

I put together a quick tutorial for downloading to an Android device. Hope it helps...

Launch your mobile browser. Open your apps "drawer" and
launch your mobile web browser. You can use any browser you wish.
For this demo, I used the stock Android browser since that is available
by default.

Browse to the show folder. Using the browser, navigate to
http://cuebas.net/buffett. From there, you can click (tap) the desired
show instead of typing the full address. If you are already reading this
BN forum from your mobile browser, simply click the QR code above (the
black & white graphic) and it will take you right to the show folder.

Start downloading the files. You may download one file at a time
with the browser, just like on your desktop PC. To download, do a long press
(approx 1 second) on each file. You will see a dialog box with Open, Save Link,
Copy, etc. Click Save Link to download the file. You will need to do this for each file.

The download is starting. Your show is on its way!

Check the download progress. If you slide the top status bar down,
you can see the progress of the download.

Launch the My Music app. After you have downloaded the show,
open your apps "drawer" again and launch My Music. This is your default
Android music player. Click on My Library. You should see Jimmy Buffett
as well as any other music files you downloaded. Click on Jimmy Buffett
and you should see the files grouped by album name. In this case,
"East Troy WI" should be in the list. When you click on that album,
you should see all the tracks for that album. Click on any of the tracks
to begin playback.
