Check the iPod Shuffle thread sometime, though the ones that have some of the same artists show up in nearly every post are suspect. It's more fun if you post what actually comes up when you hit shuffle.
Been on there before but not in a while. Mine are all over the map!!

I am most likely one of those that has some of the same artists show up in the majority of my posts. This is most likely because I don't have hundreds of songs on my 'iPod'..which is actually, an 'old school' mp3 player and I have lots of songs by the same artists. If that makes the thread less fun, I can easily stop posting, however, I can assure you that I'm posting what actually comes up when I hit shuffle, if that makes you feel any better.

Post away. I'm hitting shuffle on iTunes. My next post will be all Drive-By Truckers.

I can honestly say I like the one in Orlando .....and I'm sure it does do a hell of a buisness,Key West is getting to shiny.Still a cool place with unique party ops.But not the pirate town it used to be.

I think about it like this. Once Jimmy is gone, the lure of Margaritaville will be fade away. It might take a little time, but at the end of the day we follow this stuff so closely because of Jimmy, not because the Volcano Nachos at the restaurants taste so good (and boy do they taste GOOD). Who's going to watch over the image once he's gone? He's slowly selling it off so that it doesn't turn into an "Elvis/Graceland" sort of thing once he's done here. He's made his mark. Now it's all about preserving the legacy and not letting it fall into the wrong hands. Just my thought, not that anybody asked for it. I'm sure I'll get ripped to shreds by someone here. That's part of the fun I guess.

Personally, I don't associate Buffett with his chain of Margaritaville outlets, casinos, etc. I associate him with his music. Unfortunately, his status as the CEO of Margaritaville, Inc. has become part of his image and has done a great deal to dilute it as some people find it difficult to take him or his fanbase seriously. That said, I don't fault him one iota for having opened that first Margaritaville store in Key West. He did it as a safety measure, to have something to fall back on if and when the hits ever stopped coming. I don't think letting some of them go now has anything to do with an "Elvis/Graceland thing". Perhaps it's just because some are losing money. He's made his mint, not just from his investments, stores, merch, etc. but also from touring. When Buffett's gone, I sincerely hope the music he created is his true legacy and not the commercialization of his career via his stores, casinos, products, etc. I'm not sure who will be in charge of his legacy but I would have to think it will be his kids. I don't know that much about Cameron or Sarah (Delaney) but from what I know of Savannah, I'd say it's in good hands and she will do her father proud. One can only hope.

Very sad to hear this news. Just sad. I guess I thought this store would be the very last to go when it all came to an end. :(

I was in the Key West store last Monday 3/24/2014...it appeared to be "there" and didn't display anything to suggest it was closing down.

According to this article (which was linked to earlier in this thread), Margaritaville has entered into a partnership with the International Food Company. One of their properties is the Margaritaville restaurant and store in Key West.

Okay that's just weird.... 'Gone' on the 14th but back on the 24th..... Maybe just the online part is gone?

We're going to need a search party. :P

That's what I am thinking. I even looked on the key West newspaper and you would think they would have an article about it if it was/were closing. IIRC when you ordered something from Mville.com you ordered from an individual store, KW, NO, Charleston, Orlando, etc, not a central location. Maybe they are starting to consolidate that?

I'll volunteer to go to KW to find out if everyone will pitch in for my travel expenses :pirate:

OK here's the deal. I just called down there. The store is still open and it will honor old gift certificates. If you go online on the old Margaritaville website you won't find the stores in the drop-down menu. To shop on line you have to go here. http://lifestyle.margaritavilleretail.com/ You can hook up to the Lifestyle website via the Margaritaville website.

At least that's what I was told.

I heard from a contact at the Myrtle Beach Margaritaville that they may still put up link to be able to buy direct from the Key West store.
