Frozen concoction maker questions
Sorry if this a a repeat topic, but we have some large parties coming up so I've been looking at buying a frozen concoction maker.
Unfortunately, the first one i looked at was the Tahiti model and fell in love with it. the others look like toys compared to this one. but the price...ouch! The reviewers all seem to luv tho so it looks like the one.
My questions are does this thing ever go on sale? if not, where is the best (by that i mean cheapest) place to buy?
thanks for your help.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
When I bought mine I went to Bed Bath and Beyond with one of their discount coupons that always shows up in the mail. It wasn't the model you are looking at but the coupon did save me $60.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
The Bed Bath & Beyond website says they sell it for $499. One of the 20% off coupons STL mentioned would get you $100 off. Keep an eye out at your local Bed Bath and Beyond. I have seen them discounted as open-box.
I wish I had that much money to spend on a glorified blender.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
I prefer my boat drinks on the rocks¹ rather than as a Slurpee.
I'll have to find it again, but somewhere on Twitter last week I saw the original recipe for a daiquiri, which has nothing to do with strawberries or crushed ice.
__________
¹Sometimes, literally over rocks.

I know I left that doggone dotsig around here somewhere ...

Currently $490 on Amazon. BB&B w/20% off is the best way to go.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
Just bought off of Craigslist today the dm1000 model for $50. It was used twice.
It was in pristine condition and does the job it was made for. I am happy with this purchase.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
Nice! I'd have grabbed that thing up for $50! I checked Craigslist around DC and there's a DM0500 for $50 and a DM1000 for $125. The 0500 is too far from me and the 1000 is more than I'd pay for the novelty. But, Craigslist is somewhere I'd never thought to look.captainalex wrote:Just bought off of Craigslist today the dm1000 model for $50. It was used twice.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
I saw one here in the Central Mass. Craigslist. The dm3000 w carry case for $150 which is not to bad I guess. Considering Amazon has them listed for over $300 new And $200 used plus shipping and no case.FunkHouse9 wrote:Nice! I'd have grabbed that thing up for $50! more questions, does the ice in the hopper on these machines melt quickly or can you leave it in the hopper for a while? also are the machines messy to use? (questions the wife had)

The ice doesn't melt too fast. The directions are to let the ice sit in the hopper for say 10 minutes before blending. The water drains into a separate compartment in the back of the blender.
I do put a bowl underneath where the pitcher sits while pouring. I have found it will collect some water/sticky drink liquid. Just easier to clean up.
We really enjoy our Tiki mixer!!
It was my first look baby that's all it took

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
It gets real messy if you a) put too much liquid in the blender or b) forget to put the cover back on the blender before blending.

We were given this one as a gift. I love it as the drinks come out perfect every time. The only problem I have with it is that it only holds one type of alcohol at a time. So when using it, you only have the choice of making all rum, tequila, or vodka based drinks. You can buy extra jugs for switching.

Re: Frozen concoction maker questions
We have the Fiji. I bought it on sale at Bed Bath, also with a 20% off coupon, a couple of years ago for Father's Day. We enjoy it! Just make sure you have it on the right setting for the number of drinks you are making, or it doesn't make the right consistency.
