Jimmy Inspired - Art Abandonment - painted rocks

Post by Kobe »

Hi,

I'm working on a project that involves the 12 Days of Christmas with a Jimmy inspired twist. This is what I have so far -

and a Margarita in a Salt Rimmed Glass
2 Blenders Blending
3 Ukeleles Strumming
4 Flip Flops Flopping
5 Sharks a Swimming
6 Sandy Beaches
7 Lost Shakers of Salt
8 Festive Fruitcakes
9 Cheesy Cheeseburgers in Paradise
10 Tiny Drink Umbrellas
11 Stoked Surfers
12 Landshark Lagers

Feel free to make suggestions or substitutions. There are so many good words to use it was hard to pick - we left out parrot heads, lizards, volcanos, palm trees, coconuts, tiki bars, and rum. I'm sure there are others.

Creative thoughts welcome.
Thanks, Kobe

or switch Sandy Beaches to #5 - since that goes better with the music that would have been 5 Golden Rings.

Love the list. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Jimmy inspired - Art Abandonment - painted rocks

Post by Kobe »

Art abandonment is about creating art and leaving it for others to find. It's a great way to share art and have some fun, and when you're a parrothead - well it makes sense to go with the theme.

This is how the project turned out - These rocks are the 12 Days of Margaritaville inspired rocks.

One of each of these rocks and a couple Love and Luck painted mandala rocks were mailed to 11 Margaritaville's and one to LuLu's. The goal was to spread some parrothead cheer. Each rock was packaged in a little bag with a tag and the hope that the finder would go to parrotheadwishes on Facebook and continue to have fun and create community.

I applaud your project.I am all about the sharing of art.

How big are these stones?
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

They're a nice size - about 2-3 inches across. I have others that are larger about 4 1/2 to 5 inches across. I haven't painted on those yet but I bet they'll be fun. The smaller size is a little easier to abandon.

A job well done — although if I had put that much effort into something I would find it very difficult to "abandon" it, no matter how small it might be.

BB -

It is a little hard to abandon them but I can always make more. Once you start leaving them it's kind of fun - the challenge of leaving them and not getting caught and the anticipation and hope of someone finding them and letting you know is pretty cool. On the downside when you don't hear they were found it is a little sad, but all part of the process.

The paintings in the center of the 12 Day rocks were really tiny - I was happily surprised with the results.
I've sent off 36 so far and 3 were left directly in Vegas - time to make some more…..
