Who's Going To Chicago/Tinley Park June 25th?
Same old story is about to unfold: Tinley Park will claim tailgating can't start until 2 or 3, but they'll open the gates at about 12:30 (as long as an ill-timed storm doesn't roll through again)....
So let's cut to the chase: where will the 8-noon pretailgate shift go down?

Looks like I picked the wrong year to try Chicago. Is it really as bad as it appears to be? There are still plenty of tickets from Ticketmaster, plus resale tickets.
What am I missing here? I always though Chicago shows were legendary. Maybe not Riverbend legendary, but pretty damn good nonetheless.

It's shrunk in popularity over the past 5 or so years. I don't think it has sold out for awhile, now.
This thread is evidence, as by now it would be several pages long.

Seems to me there was a significant change around that time 5 or so yrs ago... Like maybe when we stopped going to Toyota Park?

To each their own, but IMO people make way too big a deal about the venue. I've seen him in Indy and all the Chicago venues. The only one I probably wouldn't do again is Northerly Island, unless there was some assurance I could, you know, actually SEE Jimmy on stage instead of looking at people's backs. Of course, I say that now, but if that was my only option, I still may do it.BoatBeachBarBallad50 wrote:Seems to me there was a significant change around that time 5 or so yrs ago... Tinley and Toyota both have their strengths and weaknesses (for me at least).

Certainly not at the grounds in Tinley. They wouldn't want to give the illusion of encouraging safe choices. Drunk driving tickets are more profitable for the town I suppose...

We need to make the Chicago shows legendary again. I don't know why tickets are still available but I know the lot will be full. It's a hell of a party!! I'm bringing a group of 10.
Stop by the tents with the big red chair if ya'll need a drink.

and where is the best party? Is it VIP parking or general parking? I've had VIP parking passes for the past 3 shows but have always opted for the general parking as I thought there would be more crazies! Am I missing out????
and where can I find the official tailgating information?

How empty is Tinley these days for Jimmy? Haven't been there since 2007 but it was completely sold out then. Are we talking a half full lawn now?

Lawn can be deceiving because people generally expand to fill the space. But qualitatively speaking, it's nothing like it was ten years ago, when I worried that the lawn would sell out. Hell, the last time I looked there were still decent pavilion seats available.MikeJW wrote:How empty is Tinley these days for Jimmy? Haven't been there since 2007 but it was completely sold out then. I showed up last year without a ticket.
Half off face value was readily available everywhere.
I'm planning on doing the same this year.

So does anyone have the general venue info for tailgating? What time will it start? And what location has the best party?? (or at least the most porta-potties)?

Walk around and look. That's the best part.

Years past the pre tailgate was at the holiday inn parking lot. Has that changed?

Last year there was nothing at the Holiday Inn.TsLiquor wrote:Years past the pre tailgate was at the holiday inn parking lot. Has that changed?
There were a few informal tailgates at the other hotels across the street, but not really much going on.
The parking lot party at the bar near the venue was a total waste. Live band, but no tailgating and you could only consume what they sold you there. Strictly enforced. They wouldn't even let me STAND next to my van!

Yeah, I'm sure Parrotheads will definitely listen to orders from the 16 year-old kids they have working the grounds.urlcenter wrote:DAY OF SHOW INFO:
