Re: Sail on, Walter Becker
Before discovering Jimmy Buffett and his CILCIA album, Steely Dan was the soundtrack for me during my college years in the 1970s.
Shortly after, the old progressive rock station (R.I.P.) WLIR-FM, New York did a multi-part interview with
Steely Dan's producer, Gary Katz; a real coup back then since it was known that Katz did not give many interviews. I recorded the whole thing off the radio on cassette tape. It was on a Sunday evening show called "Sunday At Nine".
Think I'll dig up the player and the cassettes tonight and reply the interviews as a way of "sitting shiva" for Walter Becker.
In the meantime, I leave you with one of my favorites of SD, which gives me a case of the bass guitar earworm every time I hear it.
Rick Derringer on the slide guitar, BTW.
