Looks like the AL East race is getting interesting, even in June.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

This guy, Rafael Devers, played for the Class A Salem Red Sox in the Carolina League last year. He's 20 years old and the Boston Red Sox just called him up to the major leagues, I think he played in his first game last night. The Red Sox game is on the MLB Network this afternoon. He just got his first major league hit, a home run. He looks like he's in better shape this year, last year he looked like a 19 year old version of Pablo Sandoval. :o

Harrison Bader made his MLB debut last night. He got his first base hit in the 9th inning and scored the winning run.
(I'm not sure where the umpire was, so Matt Carpenter called him safe at home.)

I heard on ESPN that Don Baylor died yesterday and Darren Daulton died Sunday. I always liked Don Baylor as a player, even though he never played for the Mets. Daulton played all but one year of his career for the Phillies so no real Mets fan could like the guy. I have to give him credit for one thing though, his first wife was the original Hooters girl.

Last night Washington Nats outfielder Bryce Harper bashed his 150th career home run, done at the age of 24 years and 295 days. Ironically, the other young outfielder baseball playing phenom Mike Trout knocked his 150th career home in 2016......at the exact same age of 24 years and 295 days.

Interested to know the math on that possibility happening! :o

Baseball is over in Myrtle Beach, the Pelicans aren't going to be the first team in Carolina League history to win 3 consecutive championships. They went down without much of a fight in the Southern Division Championship Series, losing the first game 4-1, then losing last night 2-1. One run on 3 hits in the first inning then only 3 hits the rest of the game. Lead off single in the 2nd inning, then the next batter hit into a double play. Lead off single in the 3rd inning and the guy gets thrown out at 2nd base trying to stretch it into a double. Even having Willson Contreras, the Chicago Cubs catcher, on an injury rehab assignment didn't help them. He had a single and 2 walks but he popped up to the 2nd baseman to end the game.

Last night's winning pitcher for the Cubs against the Nationals was former Myrtle Beach Pelican Kyle Hendricks. I never saw him pitch here, he was on the Pelicans in the 2012 season and I didn't move here until November, 2012 so the season was over already.

Wasn't really shocked by it , a ton of rumors up here. From what I read , there was division in the club house. He really didn't handle end of games well with pitching. Especially the 8th inning of the last game with the lead. The surprising part was , he did win a WS , and won the East the last 2 years. He was the 1st Red Sox manager to do that.

Amazing how today's game is so player driven. Division in the clubhouse? Really?
Just win baby!!!

Just heard former major league pitcher Roy Halladay died this afternoon. He was flying a single engine private plane that crashed in the Gulf of Mexico.

MLB Network is reporting the Yankees have reached an agreement with the Marlins to acquire Giancarlo Stanton. No other details yet.

Amazing how many great players the Marlins have shuffled away.

I wonder if Derek Jeter gave the Yankees a home town discount on the trade?

The scuttlebutt seems to call that. Non impressive prospects in the deal doesn't do much for Marlin fans confidence in the deal.

What I understand is that Stanton would only waive his no trade for The Dodgers or the Yankees. He wouldn't go to the Cards or the Giants. Both were giving better players and prospects. They wanted to dump the salary. If I was the Marlins . How they didn't get Hicks and / or Byrd I have no clue.
