The State Patrol says a man was arrested for DUI Wednesday after ramming a tree while drunk, naked and having sex with a woman while driving south of Tacoma.
Spokeswoman Brooke Bova said the crash occurred about 6 p.m. on Mountain Highway East near La Grande, according to The Associated Press.
The man and woman both emerged from the vehicle naked after the driver missed a curve and hit the tree, reports indicate.
The woman was hospitalized with broken bones. A 3-month-old baby seated in the back of the vehicle came away uninjured, Bova said.
The driver was arrested and jailed for investigation of DUI, vehicular assault and child endangerment, The News Tribune reported.
The man reportedly has three previous DUI convictions on his record.

Charges: Driver having sex during car crash was 'running around naked'
The 22-year-old man is now charged with vehicular assault
By Lynsi Burton, SeattlePI
Tuesday, November 28, 2017

Court documents say that the man who crashed a car into a tree while having sex near La Grande last week had a suspended license as a result of prior DUI convictions.
Now 22-year-old Michael Gene Tonkin is accused of vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, driving with a suspended license and failure to have ignition interlock in Pierce County Superior Court.
State troopers and Pierce County deputies headed for the 48600 block of state Route 7 about 6:14 p.m. Nov. 22 on reports that a car crashed into a tree.
The trooper spotted "several beer bottles and a bottle of hard liquor" on the driver side floorboard and noted "(t)here was also a baby in a car seat that was not secured to the vehicle," according to the incident report.
A 23-year-old woman was also in the car and was rushed to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma to be intubated and treated for a fractured pelvis. She was reportedly not seatbelted at the time of the crash.
Talking with the trooper from the back of an aid vehicle, Tonkin reportedly claimed to have consumed about four beers.
According to the trooper's report, "witnesses advised that (Defendant) exited the vehicle running around naked and advised that (Defendant) and (Passenger) were having sexy (sic) while driving."
Tonkin suffered a fractured right wrist. The 3-month-old child was not injured.
The trooper investigating the crash found that Tonkin's license was suspended and that his prior DUI convictions required him to have an ignition interlock device installed in any vehicle he drives, according to court records. The Taurus involved in the crash allegedly did not contain such a device. Tonkin remains jailed in Pierce County on $500,000 bail.

Washington state woman charged after man found shot in head
Saturday, December 16, 2017
EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a western Washington state woman working as an escort told police she shot a man in the back of the head because he was performing a sex act wrong.
The Daily Herald reports that 21-year-old Marissa Elizabeth Wallen of Mount Vernon was charged Friday with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Wallen shot the 36-year-old Everett man on Oct. 21 and took his wallet, spending $12,000 using his credit cards in Skagit County in the days after the shooting.
The man was found in his apartment three days after the shooting unable to speak with bullets in his brain.
Authorities say Wallen had visited the man nearly a half dozen times in the month leading up to the shooting.

Cops: Traffic stop reveals mom in trunk, meth in baby's diaper
By Levi Pulkkinen, SeattlePI, Friday, December 22, 2017
A Washington man arrested after a traffic stop during which police say they found a bindle of methamphetamine in a baby’s diaper and the child’s mother hiding in the car’s trunk now faces federal charges.
On June 25, a Forks Police Department officer pulled over a car belonging to Fisher’s friend, who had an outstanding warrant. Fisher was at the wheel. Arriving at the car, the officer found a screaming small child sitting in an unsecured car seat. The child was howling, “Mommy!” as the officer examined the car. One of the backseats was partially folded forward to allow access to the trunk
The officer told Fisher he believed the woman was hiding in the trunk. According to charging papers, the officer told Fisher he could either open the trunk or they would all wait for a search warrant.
“Fine, I’ll get her out,” Fisher told the officer, according to charging papers.
“Let me out!” the woman yelled.
The officer retrieved the woman and arrested her on the outstanding warrant. He then locked her in his car before returning to speak to Fisher. Fisher, who was holding the child, asked the officer if he could call someone to pick up the child. Fisher and the woman eventually were able to arrange for someone to meet them.
As the woman hugged her child goodbye, she noticed something wrong with the baby’s diaper.
“What’s in the diaper?” she asked Fisher.
“Poop,” Fisher offered.
The woman insisted on changing the baby’s diaper. As she did so, the officer noticed a plastic bag hidden inside.
According to charging papers, the officer retrieved a baggie containing a golf ball-size quantity of meth from the diaper.
As the officer described it, the discovery did not go well for Fisher. The woman, by then crying, called Fisher a “piece of s***!” and told the officer she would not do that to her child.
Fisher was arrested.

WSDOT to drivers: ‘U..S U C K’
The Washington State Department of Transportation finally told drivers what they think of them. At approximately 1:37 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, about one mile before Exit 154B on southbound I-5, an electronic sign displayed a simple message: “U..S U C K.”

WSDOT is now offering an apology: “This was an inappropriate message and we apologize if anyone was offended. This was due to a training error and clearly a mistake. We are taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again.” http://mynorthwest.com/957778/wsdot-to-drivers-u-s***/

Margarita-loving bear takes a dip in a California hot tub
Mark Hough had barely taken a sip of his Friday afternoon margarita when he heard twigs snapping and leaves rustling in his lush Altadena, California, backyard.
At first he brushed it off as the sounds of his neighbor pottering next door, but the noise grew louder.
"So I got up, looked over in the bushes and lo and behold there's a bear climbing up over my fence," Hough said Monday.

The sighting was the first of many encounters Hough would have with the bear that particularly hot Friday afternoon — over the course of a few hours the bear availed itself of Hough's backyard, his hot tub, and the cocktail he left behind.
After first spotting the bear, Hough retreated inside, only to later find the furry intruder "bobbling away in the Jacuzzi enjoying himself."

Hough recorded video of the bear lolling in the unheated hot tub with the jets on. The creature played with the chlorinator and tossed the thermometer in the air, Hough said.
"He was playing having a grand old time," he added.
Bears have been frequently filmed romping around the community that straddles city and wilderness. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Joana Warren said the department received six bear-sighting calls that Friday, but failed to find it.

The bear's dip only last a few minutes before it emerged and lumbered around the yard. Then it "popped out of the bushes, walked right over to the margarita, knocked it over and lapped it," Hough said.
About an hour later, Hough was talking to a neighbor when some oak leaves fluttered to the ground. Hough looked up to see the bear slumbering in the tree.

"So he had his margarita, he had his Jacuzzi, and now he's ready for an hour nap," Hough said.
Hough said the bear ultimately hustled away down the street. After the encounter, Hough made himself two margaritas to make up for the one he lost.
"It was an interesting Friday to say the least," Hough said.

Half-naked woman falls through restaurant ceiling
By The Associated Press
Nov 01, 2018

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Police in Tennessee say a half-naked woman fell twice through a restaurant’s ceiling and landed in its kitchen.
News outlets report 26-year-old Harley C. Morton was arrested Tuesday on charges including trespassing and disorderly conduct.
A Kingsport police report says a Cook Out employee called 911 when the naked bottom half of a woman dropped through the ceiling tiles.
It says a responding officer found her wallet with her ID on the restaurant’s roof. Police say she may have got into the ceiling through an air conditioning unit.
It says Morton fell through the ceiling again while the officer was on the roof. It says she landed on the floor and was arrested by other officers. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.

Man breaks into crocodile enclosure, and things go as you would expect
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Authorities say a man was found injured after breaking into a Florida zoo and jumping into a crocodile enclosure.
The Florida Times-Union reports St. Augustine police responded Tuesday morning to reports of vandalism at the Alligator Farm Zoological Park. Police say officers found blood and clothing in the zoo’s newly opened Nile crocodile exhibit.
There was no sign of a victim, but police had received calls about a man in his underwear crawling across a nearby yard. Security video shows one of the crocodiles biting the man on the leg. The man told officers he had been bitten by an alligator. Authorities didn’t release the man’s identity.
Authorities say the man caused about $5,000 in damage at the 125-year-old zoo. Police say he was hospitalized and faces a vandalism charge.

Sandwich thief shoves foot-long sub down his pants, provides local police with endless jokes
Law enforcement officers in Polk County, Fla., are currently searching for a suspect accused of grabbing a foot-long sandwich from a gas station convenience store, shoving it down his pants, and then biking away “perhaps in search of chips to steal,” the Polk County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook Monday.
According to police, the suspect concealed the sandwich in his pants before walking to the register and purchasing just a soda. The sheriff’s office also made a special point of noting that the thief put the sandwich down the front of his pants, and not the back.
“Now, stop right there. We know what you are thinking. Please resist — this is a respectable Facebook page. We are just reporting the facts,” police wrote. “Too bad it wasn't a hot sandwich — that would have provided instant Karma to the pilferer.”

Not local news, but.....

A parrot tipped off drug dealers to a raid, authorities say. Now it's in custody.
A parrot was taken into custody Monday after nearly spoiling a raid while playing lookout for two crack-dealing suspects by repeatedly yelling, "Mamãe, polícia!" according to Brazilian police in the state of Piauí. The phrase means, "Mama, police!"
Police encountered the unnamed parrot at the home of the two alleged crack cocaine dealers, perched inside a small brick one-story home with a windowless facade, Brazil's R7 news channel reported. As police searched for the suspects, it seemed the lime-green bird knew exactly what to do.
"He must have been trained for this," one officer involved in the operation said of the parrot's attempt to interfere with law enforcement, the Guardian reported. "As soon as the police got close he started shouting."

Woman accused of trying to rent a hitman to kill ex-husband pleads guilty in Michigan
A Michigan woman accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband has pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder, media outlets report.
Wendy Lynn Wein, a 52-year-old from South Rockford, Michigan, went to RentAHitman.com last year looking for someone to kill her ex-husband, Michigan police said.
But what she didn’t know was that the website — which claims to offer free consultations, features customer reviews and says it has helped clients from “all walks of life,” including government employees, politicians and even children — was completely bogus.

Burglary Suspect Stabbed with Sword After Attacking Homeowner with Pitchfork

"On Sunday, a male suspect was stabbed by a samurai sword when he burglarized a residence in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Police responded to a residential burglary in the 2100 block of Beacon Avenue South around 1:30 p.m. Officers located and detained two men, one with a sword with visible minor injuries, and another with a stab wound to his torso.

During the investigation, officers discovered a man had entered the victims’ residence while they were gone. The 71-year-old male victim noticed items were misplaced and a kitchen window had been shattered once he re-entered his home.

As he walked further into his home, he found a man standing in his living room. A struggle quickly ensued between the two men. At one point, the suspect held the victim to the floor as he attempted to stab him with a pitchfork. The victim was able to escape and retreat to his bedroom where he retrieved a firearm. The suspect followed him and wrestled with him as he tried to take the gun.

The victim attempted to shoot the suspect, but the firearm jammed. When the firearm malfunctioned, the victim picked up his samurai sword and stabbed the suspect. The 61-year-old female victim witnessed the physical altercation in the bedroom and tried to pull the suspect off the male victim. After the stabbing, the suspect ran outside to a nearby residence where he was later detained by officers.

Police provided medical care until Seattle Fire arrived and took over medical treatment to those injured. The male victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face and torso from the altercation. The 61-year-old male suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center for further medical attention for his non-life-threatening stab wound.

The suspect was arrested for burglary and will be booked into King County Jail after being medically cleared."
