Who's going to Charlottesville, March 31, 2018?

Excited to see JB come to our fantastic little college town. JPJ is a fabulous concert venue, and I can't wait to see what the tailgating scene will be like. Fins up!

I'm nervous about the tailgating situation after attending shows at Jiffy Lube and Virginia Beach. Virginia tailgating has been a nightmare in my experience. I hope lots will open early - especially the ones we shelled out and bought passes for. My plan is a noon start if possible.

No discussion on Charlottesville? Is it that bad? Am I going to be there alone?

Boy, not much conversation going on here. Anyway, after considering multiple locations, and getting shutout on tickets for our first choice, we've now got two tickets for Charlottesville. Hopefully the side balcony will be a decent view - and were notably cheaper than the pavilion seats I missed out on at the other place!

As of last week, the box office told me the parking lots won't open until FIVE. Sucks, but there are a couple of competing events nearby at the UVA athletic complex that day -- women's and men's lacrosse games at noon and 3, respectively, and a softball doubleheader that starts at 1. (The softball field isn't directly adjacent to JPJ, though, and has its own parking lot, so that one is a minor influence).

I'm going to call the box office again this week to confirm, but if nothing changes, my plan is for us to be in line waiting to get in to the lots by 4:30.

For those of you unfamiliar with John Paul Jones Arena and its parking, you can see a map here: http://www.virginia.edu/parking/documen ... mitMap.jpg

Parking passes get you into any of these lots on a first-come, first-serve basis. I expect most tailgating to be in the JPJ surface lot and the two U-Hall lots. The "cage" lot is a bit far from the action and the two parking decks don't really lend themselves to tailgating (and the Emmet/Ivy deck is a pretty decent hike!).

So more of the same for Virginia shows......ughh.
This will be my first Charlottesville Show and was really hoping for a tailgate that opened closer to noon than closer to 8.

If you hear anything better than 5:30 or 4:00 please post.

Even if lots don't open until 5 do you think we can get in (as in will any workers even be there 8 hours before the show)? Are there any adjacent lots that aren't part of the venue that could be an option for us early tailgaters?

My plan was to head over around 1 and find somewhere to throw down a chair.

The more I look at it the more the UVA LAX games play into our favor. They play at Klockner and parking for that is the UHALL West lot. The lot will obviously be open early for those fans so no reason we can't be parked there.

We may confuse the Virginia lax fans by our outfits but a little mixing and mingling won't hurt!

If anyone is still on the fence about going, tickets on Stubhub are literally cheaper than a Double Whopper Value Meal. Get-in prices start at $8.

Taking my two boys, age 19 & 16 to their first Buffett show. Can't wait to share this experience with them! Lots really don't open until 5pm?

My group of 14 is heading out there Saturday. I’m so disappointed in this arena’s flagrant disregard for all that which is the Buffet Experience!
Lots don’t open ‘til 4pm - preposterous!
Does anyone know of another area close to JPJ that we can all kick off our tailgating tikis....say around noon?

Otherwise, we are just going to pull out the cheeseburgers 🍔 and the cold draft 🍻 at the closest rest area!!! 🚽

See y’all there!

Due to the lax games at noon and 3 i know parking is available. I’m just going to park in U Hall West and go for it. I’m planning to arrive around 1. Feel free to join.
