Morning, BN. Today's agenda: roller coaster, hot dog(s), beach, and a ball game.

Have a safe and good one.

Good morning. We're supposed to have a bbq at the cabana by the pool today but the forecast is for heavy rain so I might sit on the couch and drink beer instead.

I was supposed to go to the Pelicans game yesterday but it was raining at the time I usually leave for the ballpark so I didn't go. About 7:00 the raain had stopped so I said to myself "Self, you should probably check the website to see if the game was postponed." It wasn't, so I got in the car and went to the ballpark. I don't remember them having a home game on July 4 since I moved here but the July 3 game is always a sellout. Last night was no different and by time I got there the parking lot was full. I went across the street and parked at Broadway at the Beach but that was pretty crowded too and I couldn't get a spot too close to the ballpark. Between leaving home after the game had already started and not being able to park close, it was the 3rd inning by time I got to my seat. The temperature had dropped from the mid 90s before the rain to the low 80s but it was really humid so it was a very uncomfortable night, I went into the team store, not because I wanted to buy anything but because it's air conditioned. They were losing but a guy with a .140 batting average hit a home run in the 8th inning and they won 4-2.

Ugh. It's supposed to be 86 with humidity. Not my favorite weather. But I suppose it's better than rain.

I've only been going to the Cyclones game on the 4th for the past few years. There are fireworks, sponsored by Coney Island, after the game. This is in addition to the weekly Friday fireworks show.

The fourth was my momโ€™s very favorite holiday. The family always gathered for our local parade and fireworks show. She was crazy about both. Back in the 90โ€™s I introduced her to Jell-O shots on the fourth, she thought they were fabulous.

She passed away at 8am on July 4th 2002. This morning I will toast her memory with a bit of Irish cream in my coffee. And yes, there will be Jell-O shots later today.

Morning BNers

Nothing planned here except maybe some hot dog and sausage on the grill.
Neighbors have been firing fireworks all week and I'm sure they will continue through the week.

When I was a kid, most major league teams would play doubleheaders on holidays. Today there aren't any doubleheaders and 6 teams, including the Mets, don't even have a game. On the 4th of July. [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]

Well my lazy day turned into quite an ambitious undertaking. I ran the vacuum, made a fresh lemon blueberry Bundy cake, baked beans are ready to bake and potato salad is chilling in the fridge. Burgers and hot dogs will be grilled later. Watching a movie now. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿน๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Hi there! I went to a boat ramp on the river to see 2 vehicles in a 30 stall lot. That changed. Ever wonder where all those kayaks you see in stores go? They go to my river on the FOURTH! :)
When I left, I counted 45 vehicles parked in the grass out towards the highway. Everyone floated today. They better hurry up. We have storms coming.
