Ice Cream "SUNDAY" @ the MSC
Hello Everyone!
With the excessive heat waves affecting a lot of us, we should all be celebrating National ICE CREAM Day. Hope everyone has a place to stay cool and enjoy their ice cream.
What's your favorite IC ? Mine is butter pecan or coffee (No chocolate for this girl - YUCK).
NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY
Dish or cone? That’s all we need to know. National Ice Cream Day on the 3rd Sunday in July offers up every flavor on the menu to fill up the honors! The holiday also lands in the middle of National Ice Cream Month, too.
Thousands of years ago, people in the Persian Empire put snow in a bowl, poured concentrated grape-juice over it, and ate it as a treat. Even when the weather was hot, they would savor this sweet treat. Their trick? They placed snow in underground chambers known as yakchal where the temperatures kept the snow from melting. The Persians also hiked to the mountain tops by their summer capital to gather snowfall.
The Chinese, under the Tang Dynasty around 697 AD, took to freezing dairy with salt and ice. However, the results aren’t exactly the ice cream we enjoy today. Frozen treats and beverages later, culinary folks point to Naples, Italy as the birthplace of the first ice cream. They give credit to Antonio Latini. He was born in 1642 and created a milk-based sorbet.
In the United States, the Quaker colonists earn the nod for bringing their ice recipes over with them. They opened the first ice cream shops, including shops in New York and other cities during the colonial era.
U.S. Ice Cream Facts
Ben Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson enjoyed ice cream.
1813 -First Lady Dolley Madison served ice cream at the Inaugural Ball.
1832 – African American confectioner, Augustus Jackson, created multiple ice cream recipes as well as a superior technique to manufacture ice cream.
1843 – Philadelphian, Nancy Johnson, received the first U.S. patent for a small-scale hand-cranked ice cream freezer.
1920 – Harry Burt puts the first ice cream trucks on the streets.

Good morning Linda. Summer is hard for me to diet, with a soft serve shop 2 miles away. I do ask for the smaller sized banana split to keep off the calories.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning pholks, got a couple of chores to do this morning before my 2 daughters come for a visit and a taco salad dinner and yes there will be ice cream for dessert. My fav is butter pecan or mint choc chip. But I really never met a scoop I didn't like!

Morning, pholks.
Lazy day in Vacationland. We'll head out on the boat for a bit and maybe pick up some ice cream on the walk back.
Stay cool!

Good morning. I didn't buy ice cream the last time I went grocery shopping, which is odd because I usually always have some in the freezer, even in the winter. But I have beer.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Yes I do. And I think I have to leave now. The Beer Den is celebrating Belgian Independence Day with a tap takeover of all Belgian beers.

Morning BNers
Had a fun night at Kemah last night. We went to T Bone Toms to see Van Wilks band and friends. It is so much fun getting hugs from friends.
AND it looks like I am now making a few guitar string bracelets and maybe earrings if I can figure it all out.
Van brought me a bag of strings and I made 2 bangles while listening to him. So much fun!

Hello, all.
Homeward bound from Alpine. A great weekend that got me away from the ongoing c-rap of reality I’ve been dealing with for the past month.
It was real hot most of the day, then rained real hard for about 45 minutes, then real hot again.
But I got to see several teriffic old-time B.N.ers I hadn’t seen in a while- that was really special. Got to hang out for a bit with Doyle Grisham too, and Jimmy was flying his drone around the parking lots for most of the afternoon.
Oh yes, there was also a concert.
Now it’s back to reality.

Ryan and I went to a local mall. Great weather when we left, same when we got to craft store. Leave the store, it was starting to sprinkle. By the time we got home it was pouring! Trying to get to our house, we were drenched...had to change clothes.
