Late Start THURSDAY@ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. This is a low day here, but plans are in the works for concerts.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

My big guy is feeling better today, actually made it through the night without getting us up. I have Salsa Chicken in the crock pot for Chicken Taco Salad for dinner. Going to start getting ready for a lunch with a few friends today. Happy Thursday everyone!

Morning BNers

Cloudy but warm. But rain is coming. I'm sure we need the moisture.

Still trying to catch up with laundry. It is amazing how fast it can get ahead of me. Ugh

It rains too much in Seattle? Hah! They just released 2019 climate statistics that show that the U.S. in total received an average of 34.78 inches of rain, the second wettest on record and 4.5 inches above normal. Seattle had 33.88 inches, 3.61 inches below the average of 37.49 inches. We had 141 days with measurable rain, nearly two weeks less than our average of 154. No wonder the webbing between my fingers and toes is drying out!

Here in the Land of Oz we have just had the driest and warmest year since records began.

Another scorcher today ~100°F or thereabouts. To be honest once it reaches 95°F it really doesn't make much difference if it gets hotter, it's all the same melting feeling.

Mrs Rabz has wrangled a bit of a good deal for a tropical sojourn so we can get away from the constant bushfire smoke. Just waiting for approval of leave from work to see if we can take advantage of it.

If we go it is a place we've dined at but not stayed at. It looks nice and the staff are so much fun.

Rabbitz, I saw an article the other day that said more than 180 people have been arrested and charged with setting some of those bushfires. It said if they're convicted they can get up to 25 years in prison.

If it is shown that the fire was deliberately lit and it resulted in someone dying, then they can be charged with manslaughter.

Given the current situation, I imagine the courts will take a dim view of such arson.

The 180 cases has been somewhat inflated - many of the cases are not arson but negligence, disobeying a fire ban or accidental ignitions. The press are calling all of them arson, but the negligent and accidental ones aren't really arson.

Hi there! We get a few small brush fires in the spring when all the dead weeds ignite near someone's burn pile, but that's the extent of fires here. It's just to damp to burn. On a hunt in Colorado, I was surprised every piece of wood burned hot, even laying in the snow.

We used to think there are places that don't burn. Like sub-tropical rain forests that are remnants left over from Gondwana times. Except they are burning now.
