Staying In SATURDAY (JAN 13) @ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. I picked up town displays this morning, most of the work was done before it got NASTY.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good late Morning Bill. Glad you were able to git er done before NASTY took over.
Fortunately, our weather people so far are correct in OUR weather assessment. Maybe a couple inches on the ground but nothing too hairy. It is blowing around now with wind gusts up to 40-45 MPH & probably will until evening. Guess we may get another inch or 2 tonight. Temps are dropping though so thats a bummer.
Cranking out client W-2's today (kind of a NFL Wild Card game weekend 1 tradition). Currently Listening to some Buffett Buffet on RM. Damn.....wishing some live Buffett was still a summertime look forward to option. :( Thankful for what was able to attend for sure. Hopeful some Coral Reefer Band reunions come to fruition this summer. Only Time Will Tell.....

Enjoy your 13th day of 2024 gang!!

Good morning gentlemen, and whoever else may be out there. There are 2 hockey games on TV today, one on ABC at 1:00 and the Hurricanes play at 7:00. I'll watch those games instead of the NFL playoffs, I have no rooting interest in any of the playoff games.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

It's been snowing off and on and blowing too. Not a lot of accumulation but it just looks cold and nasty.
I'm doing a couple loads of laundry in preparation for going back to work on Monday.
Bryan is in the basement putting the last of Christmas away. He has refused my help each time I've asked if he wants my help. The upstairs was undecorated last weekend. This year was the first year that the basement was finished so we decorated both levels. The 7 foot tree went in the basement and the 4 foot tree that his Mom gave us went on a small table in the window in the living room. She just didn't have room for it in her independent living apartment.

Stay safe and cosy phriends!

Good afternoon, all. :)

Snow fell overnight, but only about 2". And it was powder. However, the wind chill is -21. At least it's sunny.

I had an appointment already made for an oil change. I was thinking of cancelling just because I didn't want the guys to be out in the cold. But they're inside and heaters running. (It's a Big-O brand, and they've worked on both of our cars over the years, always did a good job). They just called and said the oil change IS done, but I need a new battery. :( It did groan pretty hard when starting this morning. I can't complain, it's 8 1/2 years old. Gave my okay to the brand.. $248, ouch.

After dropping off the car we ran to the liquor store for a pick up, then the grocery store for a few things. Now we wait until the battery is done.

Our apartment complex is out plowing and shoveling. They do a pretty good job, I must say.

That's it from here. We'll be watching DU hockey tonight at home, instead of the venue. I'm leary about walking yet.

$248 for a battery? Damn, I guess it's been a while since I had to buy one! :o

It got down to 14° last night and is currently 23°, but I know a lot of you are even colder.... stay safe and warm everyone!

Evening, peeps. :wench:

Storm is raging up here, downpours coming in waves and still crazy windy, 50+mph gusts. :o Made a slow-cooker gumbo that smells divine and settling in with the fireplace and football.

Happy Saturday, y’all, stay safe and dry! 8)

The Buffalo game is rescheduled for Monday. To honor the Steelers, the Pens moved their hockey game to an earlier time for their fans to catch both games.

Yeah, installation too, and all that. And I had not bought one in YEARS since this one came with the care I bought in August of 2015.

Talking about the cost of a battery makes me think about the cost of tires. Went to tire store Wednesday to get a tire repaired & ended up needing 2 new tires. $250, and that included getting a few bucks off for warranty credit. Used to be able to get a set of 4 for that price 🤷‍♂️

My buddy's wife took her car to the dealership for routine maintenance and was told she needed new tires. She called my friend to ask if she should get them. He went ballistic. The tires on the car were only several months old!

I ran some errands this afternoon and a bottle of water bottle that I'd left in my car's console was frozen solid.
I know you peoples in CO, MI, OH, PA, and places like that see that all the time, but damn, never have I ever seen that before in my 73+ years!

We're pretty much weather-wimps up here in the Upper LH Corner.... never too hot, never too cold.
Well, at least it never used to be too hot or too cold. I don't know how faux news can explain this away....🤷‍♂️

Hey there, I start from https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/21688 ... eole-gumbo. I added chicken thighs and crabmeat to the shrimp and andouille. But I don’t never use okra [smilie=puking.gif].

But it ain't Gumbo without okra!
The word "gumbo" supposedly comes from the Bantu word "achinggumbo", which means okra.

Ick. Could never cook it right, hate the texture. And don’t miss it in the end result.
