New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
Our espresso machine finally got to the point where it needed replacing. So today is new espresso machine day.
What a palaver tuning the bloody thing. I have stopped as the humidity is screwing with both the beans and my brain!
I thought i was an appropriate subject line for the Café!

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
Good morning/evening Rabz and BN!
Enjoy the new coffee machine.
Up and sort of "at 'em" this morning. Making coffee and some toast for E.
Did some laundry yesterday that needs folding, and then getting things ready for my 2nd cataract surgery early tomorrow.
Have a good Tuesday!

Good Morning Rabz & Penny.
Coffee for me is the basic Keurig machine with McD's premium roast coffee. No additions.
Still looking to get my body adjusted to the end of Daylight Savings Time. Always seems to take me a bit. I was out before 9 pm last night.
Hopefully by the weekend I'll be on point.
Enjoy your 4th day of November everyone

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
I was browsing a neighborhood forum one day and the subject of coffee came up and someone asked "where can I get a good pour-over?"
I'd never heard the term "pour-over" before and had to google it....
I've been making my coffee that way for more than fifty years, just didn't know that's what they called it!
I was buying my beans at Starbucks back in 1971 when there was only one store.
When I was a kid, my mom always had a pot going on the stove top in a glass percolator:

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
Good afternoon all. Local elections today. One of my brothers is running for re-election for school board.
He should win handily. A former classmate from kindergarten thru 8th grade is running for mayor of Harrisburg.
I think he'll win.

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
Good afternoon.
I just saw one of my neighbors and she asked me if I was going to vote. I said there's nothing to vote for. She said the mayor and city council. We don't live within the city limits, we can't vote for the mayor and the city council. She hasn't lived here as long as I have but she's here about 10 years, she should know that by now.
I went to Total Wine to replenish my beer supply. I looked in the single section to see if they had anything new that I might like to try. They had 2 beers from Vietnam, the name of the brewer is Heart Of Darkness. The movie Apocalypse Now was based on a book called Heart Of Darkness. I wonder if they make a beer called Smells Like Victory.

I have windows open, and it's 80 degrees outside!!
I had to look up "Pour Over" too, Mr. SPH. My Dad used to make his that way when I was younger.
I love coffee, a few times a month. But I add creamer and sweetener. Our coffee maker was on the fritz a couple of years ago, so we got this one:

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
It's very shiny. Still trying to dial it in though.
The weather here is quite cool but very very humid and that is messing with the way the beans are reacting.
This new machine is the latest version of a long standing dual boiler model. This is our third one, we get about 5 or 6 years out of one.
While it looks identical, it seems the software/management system is different - I am struggling with the new menus. Or possibly I am just losing my mind?

No more than any espresso machine - this also has some auto features (which we rarely need to use).

Re: New Coffee Machine Tuesday @ the MSC
Now I have yet another physical issue. You’d think I’m getting old! With one of my thyroid function levels too high and the order too low I’m now alternating days of a higher dose with a lower dose of synthroid. Yesterday I got My bone density scan results from a few months back (just getting to that now bc the dr said the notes were conflicting). I have osteoporosis with a high left hip fracture rate. I can’t take the prescription pills bc of Esophageal dysphagia (I’ll wait while you check Dr Google). My option is iv infusions every 6 months.
Getting old sure does stink.

Since I've been giving blood every 5-6 weeks, I'd vote for the iv infusions.. (((((Linda)))))Saltx3 wrote: November 4, 2025 4:42 pm . My option is iv infusions every 6 months.

Our coffee is proper enough for us, without using an espresso machine.Rabbitz wrote: November 4, 2025 4:15 pm Except we like proper coffee![]()
