So it's 7 degrees, going down to 2.. and snow has started again. But I got to see both of these sweet things..

I was drawing students in a small college 0n the New York border on the day in fall with the first frost. A student from Jamaica exclaimed," It was so cold....I had to buy gloves!" I said something like, "You are in for quite experience this winter."

It's actually 11* here in North Central Ohio. We have the gas fireplace on and chili simmering on the stove and cornbread ready for the oven. Tomorrow will be spent baking Banana Peanut Butter bread. I did the laundry today just in case we lose power. All of the gas cans are full so we're all set for the generator if we need it.

The hockey game I was supposed to go to starts at 6:05. I just got an email from Ticketmaster that someone bought my ticket. Between the 10% discount that I listed it at and the fee TM takes for the transaction I'm losing $11.60. I can live with that.

I just wanted to clear up a misconception that is being promoted by the US Government.
To be clear.
Penguins do not come from the Arctic.
They are endemic to the southern hemisphere.

Penguins are now a northern species and are only in the south because someone stole them from us.

VERY GOOD!!! Wish my DU tickets were selling. At least I get to go to my last game on February 7th, thanks to two good friends who will be picking me up and driving there. I have a parking pass, so food/beverages are on me.

Was watching the Jannik Sinner tennis match last night in the Aussie Open. Poor guy was cramped up to the nth degree from that heat. Thankfully for him after closing that retractable roof temp cooled down enough for the cramps to dissipate & he rallied to avoid the major upset

I cannot say I was watching, when I wore a younger man's clothes I enjoyed playing tennis, but even then thought it was not interesting to watch.

As for Sinner, I do not believe he should be playing for at least another couple of years, being a drug cheat and all.

I picked up the game as I was about to enter my teens. Learned a lot from watching. Stan Smith, Arthur Ashe, Newcombe, Laver, Rosewall, Nastase. Hours of banging the ball against the outside wall of a school that had 8 courts on the premises. Good times
