WAKE

Post by tnsna »

Unfortunately I was at a funeral the other day and at the wake there was a slide show presentation set to music showing pictures of the mans life. It got me to thinking about the one song that I would want played at my wake. I first thought of Pirate because it is in my top 5 but I loooove Lovely Cruise and the words would be pretty appropriate. Kind of a strange topic but I think it is a meaningful one. I thought the slide show set to music was a fantastic idea, very touching.

It's morbid, but I've thought about that, too--I've also thought "Lovely Cruise" would be a great song to be played at my funeral.

I've got a friend who has it written up that he wants "Take Another Road." As for me, I don't plan on dying. :)

Depending on what caused my recent demise, Fool Button might be appropriate.

In a good two hundred years or so, when I decide my work is done here, I think "Take Another Road" would be appropriate. It's always been one of my favorites.

We decided on "The Captain and the Kid" for my Dad's funeral ten years ago. We all grew up on his knee, holding on to the steering wheel (usually for dear life ) when we went out to sea.

Not exactly the same thing but I always liked what Johnny Carson said he wants on his tombstone:
"I'll Be Right Back".

I also Like Captian And The Kid. The reason is, I can relate to that song as Jimmy did, thats why he wrote it. My Grand Father (my best friend) was from Nova Scotia, a small fishing town, as was Jimmy's. He died about 15 years ago (seems like yesterday) Still every time I listen to that song it reminds me of him. The only thing is Pirates live forever, but when I disapear thats the song I want played... :pirate:

Funny you said that, my buddy insisted that if we didn't tap a half at his funeral he would come back and haunt us. As for me, I wouldn't want people sitting around and mouring what I was. I would rather have them sitting around enjoying the fact that they're still here sitting around and not lying down in a coffin.
