I respect the Wings for the organization they've put together but I'm enjoying seeing Chicago rise from the ashes and actually have a decent team. I remember watching them play my Habs back in the early 70's with Tony E. in goal, Dick Redmond playing defense, Pitt Martin, Mikita and Dennis Hull. Hope Wirtz doesn't sell of assets as he has done in the past, rather than paying them.

Well the game is over :( :(

I realize that Detroit has a very good hockey team and that the Hawks have a ways to go to catch up to them. It should be interesting to see how they take these two losses and whether they can rise up and take care of business with the rest of the teams in the league...

Unfortunately it looks like the road to the Stanley Cup will go through Detroit (strangely this was ALSO the case with the Bulls and the Pistons in the Late 80's.) I'll be happy this year with a playoff berth :)

Not to be a poor sport, but I read something on the Hawks board that didn't occur to me until now.... It appeared that the first period all of the players came out with a LOT of energy on both teams and there were scrums, fights, etc. However after the second period all of this disappeared.

Someone made a comment that maybe Gary Bettman had sent some sort of memo to the coaches to "knock it off" because he was afraid of what the game could turn into.

I'm not saying this happened, but all of a sudden the game appeared to turn from a "physical" game to a game with more "finesse" (like you would see in all star games)... I also noticed that the referees called more penalties on some pretty mundane hits (on both sides)

If this is really the case it's too bad because hockey needs to come out and show its "true colors" to attract fans, why "dumb it down" for the masses (who probably didn't care anyway )

Hope this wasn't the case, but it wouldn't surprise me....the mental midget is ruining the game trying to sell it to people who don't care about it, and has forgotten about the NHL's core fans who do.

I know...I gave up on NASCAR in the lat 90's when prices started going crazy and hard to get.....and don't get me started on the "can't call it Winston Cup" crap when it was started by bootleggers and tobbaco companies.

NASCAR? I don't know anyone that watches that crap! It's worse than baseball. And that is pretty bad.

I want to bump this topic so that I don't lose it

Bad game for the Hawks tonight... Even so they only lost by one goal. I think Raycroft was "lights out". I just wish that the officiating would have been a little more even, especially the "quick drop" and the "questionable" penalty call in the final minutes of a tied game :( :( :(

Rocky is a different kind of owner then his father was, he's a little more in tune to the fans while still running a solid hockey organ-i-zation. I really hope they keep this thing going, it's nice to watch Hawks games on television and see them rise up.

The Red Wings are a freaking machine...impressive to watch.

As a Bruins fan I always root for our "Original Six" bretheren to prosper (well, not the Habs). The Detroit resurgance the past few has given me hope, and now Boston, Chicago, and the Rangers are all on the upswing in an NHL that has started to get a little rougher around the edges. :D :pirate:

Yeah...what has happened to my beloved flightless birds? How do you blow a three-goal lead that quickly against the Predators? Geez...
There's that one particular harbor, sheltered from the wind...

I always cheer for the Orginal six group to do well also. I think the NHL needs for those teams to be sucessful.
