I voted "other" because I'm rapidly becoming agnostic.

I consider myself a Stage 9er. ( although stage 7 still haunts me at times)

Jimmy has always been a personal thing for me. Other than my BN friends, I don't have associations with any other people who are into Buffett - as a result, I seldom refer to myself as a Parrothead (not that I'm not proud to be a "parrothead", it's just that people unfamiliar with JB tend to associate drunken debaucherous behavior with being a parrothead) I simply say that I'm a Jimmy Buffett fan. Anybody else do this?

I have ran into this a ton of times. Even when I say I'm a Buffett fan. People automatically go to the, "Oh, you're one of those people that just drink and party all the time" comments. I am a stage 9. I am proud to be. I try to explain the reality of what it means to others....they either get it or they don't. I have found the best way to get someone to see the real meaning is to bring them to a show. I always love the amazed look on their face and the constant, "Man these people are so nice!" comments. They are always blown away by the hospitality we show to each other. Sometimes seeing is the only way to get people past the stereotype. Although I do enjoy my liquid beverages while I am there!! :wench:

Is it Stage 10 when you listen to all the other Trop Rock acts more than Buffett?
Whoops. Yes. I'm a stage 10. But I DO get the Coconut Telegraph.
I wonder what a stage 11 is ? I know....you are good friends with (and have the cell phone number) of someone close to Jimmy. 8) 8) 8)

First of all, I 'm a 9. Plunged full force into "parrothead-dom" a few years ago.

We were the recipients of above noted hospitality in Chicago when JB was there. We were in town for another show and ended up at the tailgate for a "few hours". We didn't take anything to eat and not much to drink. We would buy that at the concessions areas. After all, we were only gonna be there for a "few hours" (are you getting the picture? ). Anyway, we filled our cups and headed to the lots. We never went back to the car for refills nor did we have to purchase anything at concessions. I swear, Parrotheads are the nicest people! They shared both their food and drink...complete strangers! WOW! That's cool!

I can't vote. Maybe I'm stage 9?

I don't buy or wear tropical. I don't drink much. While I like the ocean, I like it because it's part of earth. I could care less about "Island Life". I can't stand flip flops. Okay, I wore shorts once or twice this year. I'm not a white person who wants to be a wannabee island native with the overbite dance look. I despise the idea of 5:00 Somehwere. If you don't like your job drink on the job, why wait till 5 pm?

That's all, off the top of my head.

I like Buffett for the romantic part of life. Same feeling I get when listening to "The Summer Wind". Give me "Take Another Road" over "License To Chill". I can relate to that kind of escape. Or "Love In The Library" over Why Don't We get Drunk. I mean there are some hot babes that go to the library and bookstores. Now apply those fantasies of meeting that love or lust in the bookstore and go to that OPH, and if she has those Brown Eyes you can work her over with that Schoolboy Heart while on the boardwalk licking each other's cotton candy.

It's hard to explain, but to each his or hers own interpretation.

I like shark week..........

but seriously, I don't know what "stage" I am......but I do know that it has become less about the music and more about the friendships.....I catch ONE concert a year, if I'm lucky.....and as much as I look forward to seeing the show, I'm more excited about dancing, drinking and laughing with my PH buddies......

A lot of the music I listen to is because I've heard about it here or other PH connections.....or through Buffett himself......I'm grateful for that.

9.Hi, my name is, ________ and I listen to Buffett music.

a. Comes to the realization Buffett is human, deals with it through the support of other Buffett fans or some internal strength.
b. Understands the myth, and to some degree, the man who created it and finds solace somewhere between Stage 6 and Stage 8.
c. Can’t buy anymore albums because they have them all.
d. Enjoys the music for what it represents, which is why they bought it in the first place, and ignores all the other ***** as best as possible, without forsaking their own moral standards.
e. Re-subscribes to the COCONUT TELEGRAPH

NOTE: If you reach Stage 9, still listen to Buffett, and enjoy the concerts and lifestyle….
You, my friend, are a PARROT HEAD.

Hi. My name is Connie, and I'm a Parrothead.

It is what it is..... 8)
