I'd be fine with that if I hadn't caught this nasty head cold... it's like pure hell
Who wants chicken soup when it's hot outside.
yeah....I'd say global climate change is for real

Never gets that cold in Dutch.....I have to go into the cold storage to see -30.......Dutch is a veritble banana belt.....RinglingRingling wrote:nothing like that third breath outside at -30 and feeling every nostril hair go hard and brittle..pojo wrote:buggars freeze.... now that's cold.
(((Dutch)))

the key is to always keep acclimated to it. lets you appreciate warm places more, and keep a realistic perspective on thingsMissing B'dos wrote:89 F today, 76 right now... but I'm not going out 'cause I tripped and fell on the walk and scraped my face a few days ago; tropic sun does NOT feel good on injured skin. Feeling sorry for poor Jimmy who is now in SoCal on business (and it's OK there, he's loving the tennis nightly), BUT tomorrow he has to go to the Chicago area for a meeting and it's supposed to be something like -20 F. How we ever once LIVED in that climate!??? Now we only do warm.
you are entitled to your opinion.Missing B'dos wrote:No no no.... you don't just 'appreciate' warm places... we did that when we lived in cold places. What you do is LIVE in warm places (as we have for the last seven years) and avoid the cold seasons (or just do a couple days at a time, if you HAVE to) in cold places. Lots of people who have grown up or lived in cold places move to warm places... and Jimmy grew up in the Great Lakes and I grew up in New England... but I rarely hear of people who have grown up (or lived for a long time) in at least reasonably warm places, moving to cold places. We did it because we didn't know any better, but now we do, we would never go back to really cold. Think about it -- what's the first thing cold climate people do when they have enough extra money... 1. vacation in warm places 2. buy a house in warm places 3. if they can, move to the warm places.... LASTLY maybe buy another house in a 'use-sometimes' cold place, but that's after they are secure in the warm place. Both our kids ended up in warmer climates than they grew up in even though not as warm as here. Once you have been warm, and taken the time to get used to being warm, you NEVER want to go back to being cold. But this is something the people from the warm climates don't want everyone to know or everyone would move to the warm places and there isn't the room...
This is like saying "you don't appreciate being really happy until you have been really sad..." well I have had cause in the past to be really really sad and let me tell you, I could have done without it, and it hasn't affected my happy times 'cause I always did know I was happy when I was -- I didn't need to have the sad things to contrast to.
Warm is better.
