I just went back through some old threads and the Vegas dates were announced on April 23 in 2013 and June 9 in 2014. I will probably secure a room for the weekend of October 17th well before then but it looks like we are a long time away from getting airfare.

Maybe he plays 10/10 and 10/17 in Vegas and actually has a 2-3 week run of dates out in the west, playing places he has skipped in, like...forever.

ya, right.

I was this close to booking a room for the 17th over the weekend. Probably would have if i had one more beer. Maybe this weekend I will pull the trigger. I know we won't get an announcement for a while but I'd even take a rumor at this point. I'm tired of the crickets.

I'm also thinking October 17 is the date, but if he play's two dates as is the usual case then Maybe the 17th and the 31st this year... I'm hoping some announcement is made sooner than later... Already planning on being in Vegas on October 31st... I don't like the sound of crickets either... Who said "Silence is Golden"....

Jmac, if the Boise State game and Buffett dates/times work out for Holloween, that will be an all day EPIC Saturday!

I would say 17th is safe bet. We all have seen many years past patterns and it still seems the same. I would think this year there maybe 1 show. If you look at Flamingo and MGM grand rates there has been a spike in pricing. Flamingo took 16,17 and 18th off promo, the entire rest of month is on promo. MGM shows higher rates also, 10th though at MGM is still higher but that maybe for another artist. Book early. You can always cancel or change.

If it all works out in Vegas for Halloween, my costume will look like the "Joker from Batman" wearing a Big Smile on my face! It would make for an Epic day going to the Boise State Game and a Jimmy Buffett concert in the same trip to Vegas.... I'm ready, just make it happen! :D

There has been a couple times on RM that Kirsten as said "Vegas is one of the places that hasn't been announced yet but I expect it to be announced soon" I guess we'll have to wait and see what her definition of soon is.

Since it looks like there will only be one show in Vegas this year, I'm wondering if the MGM might be planning to make it a major event at their new Resorts Festival grounds.

This is the new venue they are building which will first be used for the Rock in Rio festival this May. They've announced plans to use it several times a year though, but have nothing lined up afterwards.

How about a big day long event headlined by Jimmy? Perhaps including the Zac Brown Band (who have nothing on their calendar for that month yet)? Or other parrothead friendly artists?

It could happen....remember the MGM used to host the pre-party in the old theme park, so they know we enjoy a daylong event (and I'm sure they enjoy the beer and liquor sales that generates). And parrotheads would probably love the zipline as much as they liked the Sky Screamer at the old theme park.

Before anyone gets too excited about this (or disappointed if you don't think it would be a good thing), let me clarify that I have no official (or unofficial) rumors of this.....its only my speculation.

Anyone who is curious about this, here's an article with updates on the construction of the venue and some pictures.....

And here's some other photos taken a week or so earlier......

The pre-parties at the old theme park at the back of the MGM were the best. Miss those days.
Pre-pre-pre-party at Rodrigos, pre-pre-party at the Key Largo, pre-party at the MGM...

I never made it to a show when the party was at the MGM. Their pool area is awesome so if they moved the pool party there I would be all in. I hope the show is not at the new venue. I like having it right at the MGM since that is where we stay and do most of our pre and post concert drinking and gambling.

Having Zac Brown there would be a reason not to go. At least for me it would be, your mileage may vary.

Which one of you is the guy to Mac's right in that picture above? I'm pretty sure we met and took pictures together in Vegas last year. We too have crazy hats. They're still mentioning Vegas date(s) are to come on RM so I'll continue to check hotel and air rates on weekends until finding something good enough to pull the trigger on.

I think we're getting really close to the Vegas date announcement... I see that the Vegas 2014 show is on Margaritaville TV on demand this week... I believe it's a pre-hype "Teaser" for the announcement.... Just thinkin' [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Why not book the weekends prior to the announcement coming out? Small fee to hold them (if at all). I had every weekend booked at The Flamingo for this year in October as soon as I got home last year and then cancelled the 24th when Madona was announced. You have until a couple days before arrival to cancel with no charge.

Best part is the weekend of the 17th was by far the cheapest. :pirate:

I just scored a great deal at the MGM for the weekend of the 17th. Would hate to pass up this offer so all I need is a concert announcement for that weekend and I am set. He announced Vegas in late April two years ago so here's to 2013 history repeating itself.

Super glad I took a leap of faith a few weeks back and got a killer rate on a sweet room at the Flamingo [smilie=asa.gif]
