The Giants and Jests both won yesterday, I don't think that's happened too often lately.

Not everyone is on FB so I thought I would share this here since you won't be seeing any comments from Kevin & I on this thread...it's a repeat of my FB post from 9/15/16.

Some, but not all, of you know that when a FB post starts with "Kevin Says....." it really is Kevin typing through my FB account. For reasons we do not feel the need to explain, Kevin has chosen to not have a FB account.

With that being said :D

Normally Kevin Says....and I stay away from posts that address or reply to current "controversial" issues. Kevin typed the following and since I wholeheartedly agree with him, I am posting this on behalf of myself and Kevin Says.....

I disagree with how those sitting during the national anthem are trying to draw attention to whatever injustice or oppression they feel. To me the flag represents the greatest and freest country in the world. People gave their lives to make it this way. Are there problems? Yes. Injustices? Yes. Oppression? Yes.

Find another way to express your feelings or affect change. By sitting or kneeling during the national anthem you disrespect the country you willingly choose to live in. You don't like this country enough to honor it? Leave! You aren't forced to stay here. You want to change things? Fine. Sometimes change is a good thing. Find another way to do it. Standing and showing respect for this country and its flag doesn't mean things are perfect. It doesn't mean we don't have problems. This country will never be perfect. It means you agree with the fact that we are free and great because of the sacrifices of others and that you are proud to live in such a country. We are free to have opinions and to say what we want. I am not a good writer. I don't know how to express myself perfectly in words. I do know that whatever point those sitting during our anthem are trying to make is lost on me because of their disrespect. I don't even want to hear what their concerns are. Not because they don't have the right to say them, but because of the way they choose to do it. They disrespect the very thing that gives them a right to voice their opinion in the first place.

Playing a professional sport is not a right. It is a privilege. To those good enough to have that privilege it becomes a job. Playing a professional sport is afforded only to the cream of the crop. Games and organizations have rules if you want to be in them. Don't follow the rules and you are penalized or ejected. Most professional sports have some "code of conduct" type rules. I believe sports organizations like the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, or whatever should have rules to prevent this kind of disrespect.

And do not to try to tell me this new rule would infringe on their rights. There are many instances of not being able to exercise your right to do something because of where or how you are trying to do it. Some jobs have rules prohibiting certain activities by the people who hold them. Certain government jobs prohibit open endorsement of political candidates by displaying signs and such..even at their own homes (this applies to Linda as a court employee working for an elected judge).

Religious expression often gets stomped on as well. I might not agree with it, but as it stands it is a "rule of employment" and non-compliance makes you subject to discipline or even discharge. In most jobs there is a code of conduct and if you step out of line you could be disciplined or discharged. Why is playing football different? It's their job. Just do your job and protest in some other way.

Because of the NFL allowing this to go on I will not be watching football. In the grand scheme of things my sitting this one out probably won't affect anything, but I know I am not the only one. Until things change in the NFL I'm sitting it out. Maybe if enough choose to do as I have the sponsors who pay for advertising during the games will get the message and put some stronger pressure on the NFL. If not, so be it. It won't be much of a loss to me.

It is also true that there are other things done by governments or companies that aren't right. Things that need to be changed, but my particular objection is aimed at what is getting the most attention at the moment and it really has me mad enough to speak up.

I'm still watching.

I would probably feel differently if Kaep (or any of them) turned their backs but kneeling still seems deferential and respectful while raising awareness.

All I know is I didn't have to worry every time my kid left the house in a hoodie.

The Giants offense was invisible for most of the game but they're playing some defense.

Huh. No Eli turnovers and I actually thought the O line looked much better today. Flowers has to go though.

I meant they scored a TD on their opening drive then only had a field goal until the 4th quarter. That game was very winnable for Detroit.

More worried about Janoris Jenkins. Our already slim playoff hopes really look grim if he and JPP are both out.

The bar I'm in in Vegas has the Jests game on one of the TVs. They're losing 27-0 halfway through the 3rd quarter. They just got lucky and sacked Brady. The buffoon who got the sack got up and started jumping around doing his "look at me" routine. Look at the scoreboard, assclown. If I was the coach I would have taken him out of the game. Yeah, I know, I'm a grumpy old man. Hey, get off my lawn.
