Re: Get your recipes ready! Victory for Vicki begins soon.

Post by East Texas Parrothead »

I've set a November 15 deadline for submissions. Hopefully, we'll hit 300 recipes way before then.

The way the site is set up now, there is virtually no lag time between when Vicki and I get finished proofing and when the printing process actually begins.

It is our goal to get them in our hands and mailed to everyone by Dec. 15.

As soon as our volunteers have tested the site and give us their feedback, I'll get the link, instructions and contributor password posted.

IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER AS A ENTRY SITE "TESTER," send me a PM and I'll get the information to you. We want this to be as easy as possible so we can have as many contributors as possible.

It feels good to do good.

Is the spell checker going to "correct" our "ph" verision of the letter "f"?

OMG. Does THAT question bring back memories!

Since all of us can enter recipes, I think we'll just do the parrothead thing in the titles. Still gets the point across, but limits the confusion for our contributors AND our publisher's computer!

What say ya'll?

ETP, I sent a couple of favorite recipes, but I've got a couple more tried & true ones if you end up needing any. ;)
Only sending things that are easy, of course. :)
Some people never find it, some only pretend
But me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

Thanks, girlfriend! I forwarded them on to Vicki. She's going to be testing the site all weekend.

Glad you're not pulling a Julia Child on us. One of the recipes included in Julie Powell's book "Julie & Julia" had 25 ingredients and 37 steps. She said the French bread recipe was FOUR PAGES LONG! EGALF! :o

Whew...Not everyone likes the Ph instead of f (I don't), so my opinion is, you should submit them how you want them. Image

I promise that none of the drink recipes I submit will include any more than 4 ingredients or require more than 4 simple steps (pour, shake, strain, drink) ..... :D 8)

Bill, Terry, and everyone else involved in PTM and Victory for Vicki, this Mac lyric is for you:

Lord I know … sure as I know anything
No one does it all by theirself
But it seems to me that the happiest people
Are the first ones to offer their help
That alarm clock goes... but I’m already up this morning
I find myself searching for some good that I can do
Maybe someday I’ll hear it from a friend or from a stranger
It’s a whole lot better on account of you

I'm honored to help Vicki. I ordered one and will get more later. Thanks for doing this and I'll go through my recipes so I can contribute to the book too.

Thanks for doing this!
