PAPER CLIP WED @ THE MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning!

For today's useless trivia.....

NATIONAL PAPERCLIP DAY
National Paperclip Day is observed each year on May 29. Yes, even the paperclip has its own day of honor. It is about that well-known piece of curved wire that keeps our papers together and helps keep us organized.
While there are much earlier claims to the invention of the paperclip, according to the Early Office Museum, the first patent for a “bent wire paper clip” was presented to Samuel B. Fay in the United States in 1867. The original intention of Fay’s clip was to attach tickets to fabric. However, U.S. patent 64,088 recognized that it could also be used to attach papers together.
There were as many as 50 others that received patents for similar designs prior to 1899. One other notable name receiving a patent for his paperclip design in the United States was Erlman J. Wright in 1877. At that time, his clip was advertised for use in fastening newspapers.
The Gem paperclip, which was most likely in production in Britain in the early 1870s by The Gem Manufacturing Company, was never patented. It is the most common type of wire paper clip and is still in use today. It was introduced to the United States around 1892 and in 1904, Cushman & Denison registered a trademark for the “Gem” name in connection with paper clips. Paperclips are still sometimes called “Gem clips.”
Today, paperclips come in various sizes, shapes and colors and can make your paperwork look more fun and lively.

Paperclips are not just for holding papers together. There are many other things that you can do with them!

Replace a zipper tab
Unclog a spray bottle
Unclog a single serve coffee maker
Hem holder
Emergency hooks for broken necklaces

Morning, gals and lurkers. This whole week is grey, drizzly, in the 50s so looks like chores and work in Limeville. Again.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

Good morning. It's already 88 degrees and the forecast high is 98. I'm going to the Pelicans game tonight, it should be a fun night at the ballpark. At least the humidity dropped so the heat index might not make it into the 100s

Hi there! We drove 8 hours home with only a little drizzle that led to nice skies once home.

I used paper clips a lot in teaching, but more as a tool (after bending)to hang art from the drop ceiling.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

It was 87 degrees at game time but it cooled off during the night, it was all the way down to 83 when the game ended.

Another pathetic display of baseball. Now that I'm home, I think I'll treat myself to some ice cream.

Evening.. whoever is here, and whoever reads back. :)

I don't have much to add to the day, other than we stopped at our favorite brewery tonight which wasn't planned. Our friend, Bridgette, is leaving. She started as a brewtender in 2011, then to be in charge of sales, then to be a co-owner. She has decided to leave to help with family issues, one of which is her father now with early signs of dementia. She knows what I've been through, and was beyond please and E and I showed up. There were a lot of laughs, tears, and remembering good times. :D
