Good Morning !

Today is NATIONAL TV DINNER DAY (I have no interest or desire to participate :) )

National TV Dinner Day is observed annually on September 10th. In 1953, C.A. Swanson & Sons changed the prepackaged meal business forever. Introducing the TV Dinner revolutionized frozen food.
In 1962, Swanson stopped using the name TV Dinner. However, in the United States, the term remains synonymous with any prepackaged dinner purchased frozen from a store and heated at home.
The first Swanson TV Dinner consisted of a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, cornbread dressing, peas, and sweet potatoes. The original tray was made of aluminum and each food item had separate compartments. The dinner had to be heated in the oven. Most meals cooked in the oven for 25 minutes. Today, nearly all frozen food trays can be cooked in the microwave or in a conventional oven.
The original product sold for 98 cents. The first year, Swanson’s production estimate was 5,000 dinners. To their surprise, Swanson far exceeded that amount. In the first year, they sold more than 10 million of them.
1960 – Swanson added desserts to a new four-compartment tray.
1964 – Night Hawk name originated from the Night Hawk steak houses that operated in Austin, Texas from 1939 through 1994. The original diners were open all night catering to the late-night crowd. The restaurants produced the first frozen Night Hawk TV dinner in 1964.
1969 – The first TV breakfasts were marketed. Great Starts Breakfasts and breakfast sandwiches followed later.
1973 – The first Swanson Hungry-Man dinners were marketed; these were larger portions of its regular dinner products.
1986 – The first microwave oven-safe trays were marketed.
1986 – The Smithsonian Institute inducted the original Swanson TV Dinner tray into the Museum of American History.
Much has changed since the original TV Dinner. They also remain a popular choice for a fast and convenient meal and fun to eat in front of the TV!

Good morning! :)

I used to love them. They were a treat when I was a kid. Fried chicken, corn, and the brownie. Can't remember the other ingredient.

Have a good Tuesday!!! :D

TV dinners are OK in a pinch, but I much prefer the Swanson or Banquet frozen pot pies.

Hi there! I'm back from a fishing trip with Bern. I sing a lot while fishing, sometimes it's not appreciated. I titled a song "One lil' fishy" AKA the annoying fishy song. :D

We ate a lot of TV dinners. My poor mother was working at a hospital a half an hour away while getting her degree at a college an hour away. Her time to cook good meals was Sunday.

Good afternoon. When I went grocery shopping, the thermometer on the dashboard of my car said 101. The real temperature is only 85 but it's very humid, I don't think I'll be going to the park for my daily walk today.

I remember eating the frank n beans and turkey tv dinners as a kid. Never was a big fan, but I could manage to get those options down.
I'm feeling a little better today, and am taking my time doing a few chores around the house, and will make a breakfast type one skillet dinner called Potatoes Eggs and Onions for dinner later. No tv dinners here.

Afternoon BN.

Spent last weekend in OC, MD. It was the end of my vaca (gosh that went fast!). Arrived in Thu to make sure I was there for Thu eve/Fri hurricane parties 8). Weather wasn't terrible Fri & I got some good pics of the large ocean waves. Sat & Sun were beautiful & I spent the days at the beach.
Cane home yesterday to get a call from work. The night shift was short & could I work 0100-1300 (instead of 0700-1900) today. Well, I guess so...

Spending a lil time at the tiki before heading in to cook dinner. Steaks on the grill [smilie=yum.gif]
We never had tv dinners growing up..

Ahhh I remember TV dinners when I was a little moog. For the most part my widowed mother always had a hot meal even when she was working.

Evening BNers

We had tv dinners but rarely. We liked the Mexican ones. Nothing like Tex Mex but we enjoyed them.

I had Dr appt today to get scripts renewed. Spend most of our time talking about Feat and his trip to Italy.
😁

And I got caught in the rain a few times. It is storming again. 🌩⛈☂️🌬
