Good morning. We used to have 2 Oktoberfest celebrations here, both in October on back to back weekends. Last year we only had one. I haven't seen anything about the date for this year's yet, I hope they're still having it.

Our German clubs annual Oktoberfest is next weekend. I’m always on a girls beach weekend so I miss it. Kevin usually works that Saturday at Lancaster home brew so our friend, the owner, can have a set up at a downtown Lancaster Oktoberfest

Hi there! My adopted brother, Bern has a great Oktoberfest in Cleveland and wears a funky lil' fedora covered in buttons. I live in hill billy heaven, so no fest here.

I googled it, this year's Oktoberfest is Oct. 11 & 12, or Oct. 12 & 13, depending which website I want to believe.

Today is the last day of Charleston Beer Week. There are 30+ craft brewers in the Charleston/North Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area so I was thinking of going. Then I asked myself "Self, do you want to drive 2 hours to go to a taproom, have a beer and a burger (or a slice of Zombie Bob's pizza) then drive 2 hours again to get home?" No.

I'm at home finally, watching the recording of the Ohio State game. Drinking a margarita and chillin. Go Bucks! 🏈🏈🏈

Evening BNers

Finally got to Walmart and of course, bought too much. But we have groceries for a few days.

Pretty day here except too hot....96°. Yes, I will complain about it being too cold soon. 😜

I'm watching the Atlanta Braves game. A guy just tried to bunt and the ball hit him in the face. Not off the bat, just right in the face. :o

It didn't look like he lost consciousness but he was on the ground for a few minutes. They brought a golf cart out to take him off the field, he was able to get up and walk over to the cart. The Braves' manager was thrown out of the game for arguing, the home plate umpire called it a strike instead of a hit by pitch. They have replay review in baseball, but you can't review ball and strike calls.

Watching Astros/KC game. Coach was thrown out last night. Tonight, he was gone again in 2nd inning. 😁

The game was tied 1-1 in the 7th inning when the guy got hit in the face. The Braves scored 9 runs in the last 3 innings and won 10-1. I usually don't watch the post-game show but I watched today to see if they had any news on the injured player. All they said was he was taken to the hospital and was conscious and alert. No other word on his condition.

How can they call it Oktoberfest if it isn't in Oktober?
That would be like holding Christmas in August to avoid the possibility of snow and cold weather.

Oktoberfest starts in September because its final day has a fixed spot on the calendar. The last day of the festival is always on the first Sunday of October.

That would be the actual, original Oktoberfest in Munich, but I didn't think Saltx3 was talking about that one.Β Β She mentioned her local German club, so I thought she meant a local festival, which β€” at least here in my hometown β€” usually only runs for four or five days (Thursday thru Sunday).

Here's ours β€”

And it runs Sept 26. thru 29 this year as well, so I guess I shouldn't be so finicky after all.
(although I'm just sayin' ... if I were in charge, it would have been from Okt. 3 thru 7th!)
