Good Morning Everyone!

You're never too old to learn something....right ? [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

IT'S NATIONAL NACHO DAY !!

Where Nachos Began

First created sometime around 1943, the popular and loved nachos are of Mexican origin.
History tells us that Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya created the original nachos in 1943. According to his son, his father was the maître d’ at the El Moderno Restaurant in Piedras Negras. One evening after the kitchen staff had left, a group of U.S. Army wives stationed at Fort Duncan in Eagle Pass came into the restaurant. After a long day of shopping, they were hungry and asked for a snack.
Anaya prepared some tostadas cut into triangles. After topping them with shredded cheese and sliced jalapenos, he heated the dish in the oven. They were such a hit with the Army wives that they named the snack “Nacho’s Special” before he could make another batch.
Word of the new creation quickly traveled. People from all over tried them, loved them, and over time, the name changed. Eventually, Nacho’s special became special nachos.
The original recipe is printed in the 1954 St. Anne’s Cookbook.
The popularity of the new dish spread swiftly throughout Texas and the Southwest and has since gained millions of fans across America.
Nachos Today
We call nachos with an abundance of toppings loaded nachos, super nachos, or nachos supreme. Serve them as a snack, an appetizer, or even prepared with extra ingredients as a full meal.
Since the time of the original nachos, the toppings have expanded. Today we add beef, chicken, and seafood along with a variety of seasonings. This snack even satisfies the pickiest eater. Whether you’re a vegan to full-on carnivores, there’s a nachos recipe for you.
In restaurants across the country, nachos find their way onto the menus of other cuisines, too. Some restaurants substitute the chip with a potato base. Another option is to replace the toppings with ingredients from the culture. For example, to make Italian nachos top the chips with mozzarella cheese and Alfredo sauce. Asian nachos may include wasabi or curry. Each version of nachos brings its own unique flavor to the table.
HOW TO OBSERVE #NationalNachosDay
Invite friends and family to enjoy nachos with you tonight. Try making a variety of nacho dishes to share. Make it a celebration by including games and share with others. Need a recipe? Try this Baked Chicken Recipe. #NationalNachosDay to post on social media.

Mmmmm... I love nachos, especially when we make them at home. I can add as much or as little as I want. Skip the beans for mine.

Waiting for the car dealership driver to pick me up, take me back to the dealer, they have a car rental on site. Then I can get to work. Hopefully they can fix the car window today. I hate car issues.

Off to make some breakfast before he gets here. Have a good day!! :)

Good morning. I've had Irish nachos and Italian nachos. The Irish nachos use potato chips, but they're cut thicker than regular potato chips so they don't break when you scoop up all the good stuff. The chips in the Italian nachos were made from pasta.

Woke up this AM in to 2+ inches on the ground here in western Wisconsin.  We all know winter is coming, especially in this neck of the wood, but the first week in November still seems just too dambed early.
And of course the city crews, etc. weren't ready for it — they're still set up to vacuum up the leaves people rake out to the curb and don't even have the blades on those big ol' trucks yet — so driving around was .... well, interesting, to say the least.

I forgot all about Nacho Hippo. I haven't been there in probably 5 years, and it's closer to where I live than the boardwalk.

Steady at the shop today. And it was sunny, but chilly. They are calling for rain early in the morning, changing to a wintry mix in the afternoon. I am glad that I don't have to work tomorrow...well at the flower shop anyway. I will be working at home, brushing the big dogs and cleaning house...its so dusty since we have been running the furnace off and on to keep the chill down.
We had Chicken Tortilla Soup for dinner that simmered in the crockpot all day today, so alas no nachos for us.

Howdy! :)

This is a close guess, but our part of town, AND where we work has had at least a foot of snow so far this Fall. Tonight it's foggy, and freezing rain overnight.

But my car window got fixed (replaced several parts). They threw in an oil change (needed), cleaned my back an front windshield inside for me (I can't get to it), and topped off the antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid. My charge was $290. Rented a car from Hertz (on site) for the day. Including a little bit of gas (didn't feel like stopping) it was $54.

Then I got the mail, and there was a Jury Summons in there for December 9th. Fun Fun.

Attorneys used to be exempt from jury duty in NY but that was changed around the time I graduated from law school. I was called a few times but I was never picked to be on a jury. South Carolina hasn't gotten around to calling me yet.
