Take a Hike SUNDAY @ the MSC

Hello Everyone!

Today is National Take a Hike Day....(there won't be any hiking here at Ringville).
Anyone going for a hike?

National Take a Hike Day on November 17th encourages us to get out there and hit the trails. With over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System across the 50 states, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike.
Some of those trails are hundreds of years old. For example, the oldest continuously used trail in the United States is Crawford Path in New Hampshire. The beginnings of the mountain path were cleared to the summit of Mt. Washington in 1819. Other trails allow us to follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark or explore even more ancient history like Effigy Mounds National Monument.
Besides experiencing majestic views and the great outdoors, we also exercise our bodies. Hiking not only gets our hearts pumping and our muscles moving, but being outdoors is good for our minds. Many of us spend too much time indoors behind a desk. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. What better way to get a head start on all those ‘other’ holiday temptations and observe Take a Hike Day?
Events around the country celebrate Take a Hike Day. Local, state, and National Parks support hiking events encouraging us to enjoy a hike. Be sure to wear good shoes, take a snack and bring a buddy, but get out there and enjoy the fresh air, scenery and get a little exercise to boot!

Morning, y'all!

No hiking for me, but I'll walk the dog some between catching up on work stuff. Maybe watch some football even though the Giants have a merciful bye week. And then need to figure out what to do for dinner. Mr. Lime usually cooks but he's out of town so I have to fend for myself. [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]

Does hiking through the grocery store aisles count?

Up late last night after hockey game, and bad dreams got me up too early this morning. :-? But the sun is shining, SMLCHNG plates are back on my car, so it's all good. :D

Good morning. If I go "hiking" anywhere, it won't be until later. We have a high wind advisory until noon, if I go out now my hair will get all messed up.

Seems kinda late in the year for a large portion of the country.  Here in Wisconsin, we could just as easily be using cross-country skis or snowshoes as hiking boots in mid-November.

We just got back from a nice breakfast at a local diner, then finished up with a hike through the grocery store like others! The last load of laundry is in the dryer and I'm going to get a jump on thanksgiving and make my Orange Cranberry Sauce. It keeps in the fridge forever, so why not? Bryan is making guacamole for our macho nachos for dinner, and the rest of my afternoon will be spent going over my chore list and shopping lists to complete for the upcoming holiday season. I have my Christmas cards ready for stamps, so that's a big chore checked off the list. Have a great Sunday!!!

Morning BNers

Waiting for the races to start. Last race of the season so champions will be crowned. We have our favorites in each category and keeping our fingers crossed. 🤞

I think hiking around the grocery store qualifies for this National day!

I’ve hiked up and down our staircases quite a few times already today. It goes something like this:

I’m going up/down to do or get ___________(insert item or task here).

When I get there It turns into “why am I up/down here?
Since I can’t remember I go back from where I came.
Empty handed or having not done what I went to do.

Lots of hiking. :o

I'm exhausted just reading that. Haven't prepped anything for Thanksgiving and haven't started anything for Christmas either.

Me too!
Wow

Since it is just the 3 of us, we don't decorate much any more.

No Thanksgiving prep here. In the last 3 years, I learned to make Mom's/Grandma's, and it's been a bit hit. SO happy I can carry on the tradition. But this year, we're actually flying to OK to be with E's family. First time ever for me/us. His Mom asked if there was anything I didn't do, like Oyster Dressing. :o    Uh. No. E's brother gifted the trip to us as an early Christmas gift. :D
