Well wasn't THAT an interesting afternoon and evening.
Chez Rabz is on the outer fringes of Sydney and is pretty much surrounded by national park and other scrub land. We aren't an 'interface' area although the interface areas are between 100 and 300 yards away making the actual bush 300 to 500 yards away.
Anyhoo, on my way home from work, while sitting on the train, I get a series of text messages from Mrs Rabz who was working from home. All in the space of 30 minutes (I am paraphrasing here):
1. There is a bushfire one street over.
2. There is a storm coming.
3. The fire is getting bigger with lots of trucks attending.
4. It's raining.
5. It's pouring.
6. The power has gone out.
7. It's hailing.
8. Because the power is out the sump pump is not working and the side passage is flooding.
9. It's stopped raining.
10. It's hailing again.
11. It's storming again.
12. There's still lots of smoke.
13. More rain, very heavy.
So in summary in one 30 minute period we had a bushfire, torrential rain, storms, power outage, flooding and hail.
Forecast for today is much the same as yesterday only 10° hotter. Welcome to spring in Sydney.
Someone pass the rum, I need a couple of doubles, methinks.
Hoping everything has calmed down by now. ❤

just had a peek at the weather radar.
I know better but did anyway.
There is a queue of storm cells lining up, ready to sweep across the city.
The bright side is, at least the water tank is full.

Is the tank your main water source or auxiliary?

It's just a stormwater harvesting tank for gardening and as a stored water source for defensive fire fighting.

Well, I would assume the rain at least put the fire out — or was enough help that the firefighters were able to finish the job.
And maybe you could invest in a hand-operated bailing pump/bilge pump as a back-up for the electric sump pump?
-"BB"-
The volume of water makes a 12v or hand pump less than viable.
I might have to lash out and buy a UPS to back up the pump.

Although both of us enjoy cooking, Mrs SPH and I are both in a rut where we look at each other and one of us will say "what do you want for dinner" and "I don't know, what do you want" and "I don't care, what do you want?" It's kinda at the point where it's harder to decide what to cook than it is to cook it! And then one of us will say "do you just want to go out?" and the other will say "Nah, I don't really want to go anywhere." So then we start back at the top with "What do you want for dinner?"
We’re 36 years into marriage and I’m still trying new recipes. Lucky for us kevin eats almost anything. There have been very few recipes where we say....ehhhh...We don’t need to make that again.

After spending nearly 10 months in a rehab/care facility due to an amputation, my dad finally came home today.
It's been a rough year.
Wow! Didn’t realize this. Welcome home dad.

We've been married 35 years (36 next March) and it seems like we've made everything at least once.... we're always open to new recipes.
(And since I'm married to a retired RN, they gotta be healthy recipes.)

Been married about 10 years longer than you. Some things Larry doesn't care for, something's I won't eat. So we stick to mostly beef and chicken and some potatoes and veggies. Maybe we need a cook????

Morning BNers
Anyone want to buy groceries for me? Please??
Normally Ryan and I share shopping and making dinner. But since he still isn't feeling good, it is all up to me. Guess I am spoiled.

So, I have to come up with menus and do the cooking.
we made this for the first time this weekend.....yummmmm.
