I echo that sentiment DB.....

There is nothing good that will come out of this...and look at how they'll be monitoring ticket prices...looks like a lose-lose situation, unless you're the team or TM....figures.

From the article:
Sellers may not end up benefiting from any price above a ticket’s face value. In fact, sellers of Blue Jackets tickets get only 90 percent of the face price (this figure could vary by team). That means if a fan of the National Hockey League team bought a ticket for $100 and sold it for $105 (with the team’s markup) he or she would get $90, while the buyer would pay $105 plus a Ticketmaster fee of $4.

It is the "dynamic pricing" strategy that worries me. You'll always find "resellers" who will sell to the highest bidder. But if dynamic pricing means we all become bidders for sold out shows, prices will go through the roof!

I hate ticketbastard. . . like they don't have enough of a monopoly. Anybody think of a way to eliminate them altogether, let me know. I got your back.

Sad thing is, Pearl Jam was right all those years ago....

Congress of course ignored them, but in the ened when they tried to use alternative ticketing, they more or less disappeared. Now even THEY have to use ticketmaster....

Hopefully common sense will prevail... Not sure auctions benefit promotors, venues OR artists and I'm sure none of them feel the need to owe TM anything....

If this happens then somebody should be locked up !!!!! Can't believe the performers would stand for it. Jimmy started his own record label....why not his own ticket outlet !!!!

The problem is that most of the venues Jimmy plays has contracts with TM. If he chooses not to use them he would only have a few venues he could play.

Brian, that is true. Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp(sp?) use TM venues. The difference is that they both issue mass quantities of tickets through their fan clubs. Big artists have the pull to dictate to Ticketmaster. It's a shame that Jimmy hasn't opted to do so.

Jimmy does make tickets available thru the PHIP clubs for active members at their local/closest venue.

I dunno...something tells me if Jimmy said....these are my terms, take 'em or leave 'em, most venues would take em.

the places jimmy plays are pedominantly owned by clearchannel. somehow i don't think jimmy or anyone else will be dictating anything to CC, especially any artist that lives on (ie. pays $$ for) FM airplay.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....
