Holiday was coming up (Valentines, Christmas, whatever) and they did not want to be seen as breaking up with someone to get out of buying/giving a gift.
Conversely, they wanted to use the upcoming holiday to milk the soon-to-be ex-romantic interest for all they could get first.
I've had the blues, the reds and the pinks —
One thing for sure ... Love stinks!

Way back when, I was dating a woman that I thought was "the one". Everybody thought she was the one... even her parents were starting to ask leading questions. She threw a surprise party for me for my 30th birthday and then broke up with me after the party. WTF? She said she waited until after the party cuz she wanted me to have a happy birthday. What? Happy f'n birthday to me!

She told me that her analyst told her that our relationship wasn't working. Analyst? What analyst? I didn't know she even had an analyst, but in hindsight she was totally f'n nuts.
