National Brownie Day TUESDAY @ the MSC

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is National Brownie Day and although I don't care for chocolate I didn't want to skip this all important holiday for most of you :).

So, here are some fun facts about today.....

In the United States, the chocolate brownie is a favorite, with the blonde brownie running a close second. A blonde brownie is made with brown sugar and no chocolate and is often called a blondie.
The earliest recipes for brownies we are familiar with today are found published in regional cookbooks and newspapers around the turn of the last century. The 1904 Laconia, NH Home Cookery, the 1904 Chicago, IL Service Club Cook Book, and an April 2, 1905, edition of The Boston Globe are three early examples. In 1906, Fannie Merritt Farmer published a recipe in an edition of The Boston Cooking School Cook Book.

Good morning Linda. I like brownies, but prefer them with ice cream and sauce. They are also a favorite with Kevin's beer at parrotfest.

Good morning Linda, Bill, and Deb! :)

Love a good brownie, but NO nuts in mine.

Outta here a little early - E had a flat tire (something visibly in it) last night after he got home, so he's dropping it off at the tire store this morning, and I'm dropping him off at work.

Have a good Tuesday!! :)

Good morning BN, chilly morning here, low 30's. And my heat crapped out last night. I called the guy when they opened at 8 this morning and hopefully they'll be here by noon.

Love some brownies, moist and chewy! I remember some brownies my sister made one time...but that's another story.

Good morning. Not only did I have to start wearing pants last month, I'm wearing long sleeves today. It was 33 degrees when I woke up and it's only 38 now.

I love brownies, I don't mind a good blondie every now and then either. But like Penny, no nuts in my brownies. I know I've told this before, when I worked at Chase Auto Finance there was a woman in the office who baked brownies for everyone's birthday. She always put walnuts in them. I told her if she baked brownies for my birthday she should leave the walnuts out because I don't eat any kind of nuts. (No comments from the usual suspects.) When I got to the office on my birthday, there was a plate of brownies wrapped in saran wrap on my desk. They were covered in walnuts. When I started unwrapping them, I saw there were 2 layers of saran wrap and the walnuts were in between the 2 layers. The brownies were nut free.

I also prefer nut free brownies, I like nuts and I like brownies but not together.

A little busy yesterday. We got a new hot water heater on Sunday. They guys who installed it were here for 5 hours.
The old heater's exhaust connected with the furnace exhaust and was causing issues. They had to reroute some things
and drill a new hole in the side of the house near the roof.

When they left the new heater was running and we thought all was good. Hours later still no hot water. I left messages with
the installer. He had his phone on "do not disturb" mode. He got back to me around 7 am Monday. Came by @ 830 and fixed the
problem. There was air inside the gas line.

While waiting for him and his worker to show up, I discovered our coffee pot had reached it's expiration date and crapped out.
I made coffee by pouring boiling water over top of the coffee pot. I wasn't going to tell Jeannette that we had no hot water AND
no coffee.

Now everything works and we have a new coffee pot. :pirate:

Aaaaaack! The only thing worse than plumbing issues are electric ones. We had a water heater blow black soot like carbon in the basement and it was pulled up from the basement into the kitchen through the vent.
We switched to an electric water heater.

Hey LAM - what is the BOE? And why are you p*** off?? :(
I'm guessing Board of Education...

We can start a collection
Yeah it is the BOE. Kaleb is autistic and has an IEP which includes him getting a Special Needs Teacher who is educated in Autism and weekly Speech Therapy, but they are not abiding by it. None of the kids who are in the same boat are getting what they need. I have talked to our mayor, the Assistant to the Governor of Georgia, and every one within out BOE except the Superintendent (she refuses to speak to any parents)

Ugh! A friend of mine has a son who is also autistic & had she had a hard time a few years ago dealing with the school system. Sounds to be the same type of issues. Be vigilant - keep calling, emailing, etc (I'm sure you will) and just be an overall pain in their a**! Also keep every piece of documentation. I'm sure you already knew all this but just in case...

I wish you the best of luck!! And let us know if you need to be bailed out, we got ya! [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Believe me the school and the BoE know my husband and me by the sound of our voice. I will never stop advocating for my son. We are lucky that he is on the somewhat higher end of the ASD, but that doesn't mean they need to buck on their responsibilities. I realize that there is a pandemic going on, but to literally watch a meeting with the Superintendent and hearing her say "she doesn't give a damn if the kids fall behind in reading or writing" makes me angry on a whole different level.
