Play your Kazoo THURSDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning BN!

It's National Kazoo Day :). We have a bag of them in our basement that we planned to use at the 2020 10th Annual Ringville Parrotfest in April.....so we still have a bag of them.

Anyway.....when was the last time you played a Kazoo???

NATIONAL KAZOO DAY
National Kazoo Day on January 28th recognizes nearly 200 years of kazoo music in the United States.
Alabama Vest of Macon Georgia made the first Kazoo in the 1840s. The instrument requires little effort to create a sound (though some skill is necessary to make intelligible music) the kazoo adds both comedic punctuations to just about any childhood song. If you can hum, you can play the kazoo!
Inspired by the African horn, the Mirliton, made from bone, gourds and a variety of other materials, Vest partnered with Thaddeus Von Clegg to produce his design in metal. Clegg, a German clockmaker, took Vest’s idea and put it into production.
The first U.S. patent for a toy musical instrument with the proposed name of “kazoo” was submitted to the U.S. Patent office by Warren H. Frost and granted patent number 270,543 on January 9, 1883.

Good morning Linda, I played a kazoo in a marching kazoo band during the oil festival parade in 2009. I still have the instrument. Life needs whimsy.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good Morning land of BN'ers!!!

I've never played the kazoo, but I've stayed at a Holiday Inn in the city of Kalamazoo (affectionately known here in Michigan as K-Zoo) Qualify??

Yesterday morning girlfriend Lynn woke up to no water. As it's already been determined a new well is in her forecast this spring because of a suspected drop pipe leak or casing leak from her 60 year old well, we wondered if she was in biggggg trouble. Fortunately just needed to replace the Pump start capacitor......so fingers crossed she can still make it to late Spring without any further issues
.
Still in the middle of our chilliest stretch so far this winter...but should be back to 30 degrees come Sat & Sun.

Have fun playing your kazoos today gang!! 8)

Good morning Linda, Bill, Tammy, and Ken!

Glad Lynn's water issues were minimal!

Hard to wake up to the alarm this morning. Eeek.

Last time I played a kazoo was probably 40 years ago! :)

And I'm out of here - stuff on my desk ought to be a wee bit nutty.

Picked up some ot tonight so I'll probably take a nap later.

Morning BNers

Yesterday was beautiful....sunshine and upper 60's. This morning, I woke up to mid 40's. 😖
Brrrr
At least we do have sun.
I might stay curled up with my electric blanket today. 😊

Kazoo?? I don't think I have ever had the pleasure. Sounds like fun though.

Morning Connie!
I think it got to 30's in this area.

I like that they are using screws on the fence...much quieter than hammering nails for days. 😊

Yesterday someone at work said "Smile! Thing could get worse!".

They were right. Things got worse. I am just so tired of dealing with people who believe that they are gurus in a subject when they actually have zero idea of what is needed or how to fix it.

I now have many weeks of work fixing their amateurism, and deadlines that are less than that...

I believe I have a kazoo around here somewhere. It's been decades since I've used it.
