Hey all! Today is National BBQ day…what do you like in yours?
If the mouthwatering aromas wafting down the street haven’t told you, we will; May 16th is National Barbecue Day!
The purist in the world of barbecue either uses charcoal, wood, or gas and slow cooks the protein over indirect heat. While the type of protein and seasonings vary, each part of the country specializes in their own flavors and sauces.
For example, more tangy BBQ with a vinegar base can be found in North Carolina. South Carolina leans toward a sweeter sauce. The sauce can be applied thick or thin, giving it more of a glaze. Turn up the heat by adding spices and peppers. Smoking meat is another way to add flavor and tenderness, too.
Unique ingredients come from ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire, brown sugar, soy, and molasses. But you never know what combination of spices a barbecue master has in his or her repertoire.

Good morning.
The Stanley Cup playoffs started last night and I had a tough decision to make when I was watching the game. When I'm watching something on live TV I can only record one other show on my DVR. There were 2 cinematic masterpieces on at the same time - Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

I had just seen Abe a few weeks ago so I went with the Klowns but I haven't watched it yet. It'll have to wait until later, there's a hockey game on at noon and another one right after that. Both of my teams are playing, the Islanders and the Golden Knights.

Kevin’s second vaccine yesterday left him with nothing more than a minor sore arm…..yay….he doesn’t need anything else hurting while he continues to recover from hip replacement.

Good morning all, I like all smoked meats and have a friend with a commercial smoker on wheels. He bought it to do catering, but that didn't last long. He plans on a party soon, but he'll probably grill.

And it is so dark in the house. I have the lights on. We are getting quick squalls coming through this area....rain, thunder, just really dark. Yikes!!!
It would be great napping time if it wasn't for the thunder!

The Islanders won in overtime and the guy who scored the game winning goal is a native Long Islander. The first period of the Golden Knights game is almost over, I think I'll grab my iPod and go for a walk then watch the rest of the game when I get back.

My arm was EXTREMELY sore the next morning, but nothing that a few cold beers in the afternoon didn't fix.

A friend who owned 2 sports bars bought 5 Wagu tomahawk rib eyes to grill at camp. They weighed 28 oz at 50$ a steak wholesale price.
Four guys didn't finish the steaks.
I did.
He told latefr, he would never do that again.
His dog ate real well that weekend.

Evening, peeps. Love BBQ but tonight we're just having Mexican food.
Forecast was for a rainy weekend but it ended up being really nice. We did lots of outdoor chores and planted some flowers in the front beds this afternoon.
Now it's wine thirty.
Bill, a place near us just started carrying those tomahawk steaks, we're definitely trying them sometime this summer. [smilie=yum.gif]
