Paul Bunyan & NAT'L PARROTHEAD MONDAY @ the MSC
Good Morning !
and then there's this...June 28, 1985
Happy International Parrothead day. June 28, 1985 Timothy B Schmit coined the phrase "Parrothead" at Timberwolf Amphitheater in Cincinnati Ohio.
Anyone remember the story of Paul Bunyan? Will the info you read in the MSC ever cease to amaze you?
Have a great day everyone.....
On June 28th, we remember fondly the tales of the big blue ox and a mighty lumberjack. It is National Paul Bunyan Day!
Described as a giant and a lumberjack of unusual skill, Paul Bunyan is one of the most famous North American folklore heroes. In the tales, Paul Bunyan was almost always accompanied by his companion, Babe the Blue Ox.
Was He Real?
First appearing in print in 1906, in a story published by Northern Michigan journalist James MacGillivray, Bunyan’s character originated in folktales circulated among lumberjacks in the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada. One account states that the tales began during the Papineau Rebellion of 1837. In 1914, William Laughhead reworked the stories for a logging company’s advertising campaign. The campaign breathed new life into the growing legendary character of Paul Bunyan. It was the 1922 edition of Laughead’s tales that inspired many others and soon the character’s plaid shirt and far-fetched characteristics spread across all of the United States and Canada.

Good morning Linda. I loved all tall tales and did a four foot high painting of Paul for my art room.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good Morning BNer's. Golf tourney today with temps around 95 with a dew point in the 70's. I should shed some pounds today.

Good morning, BN!
Thanks for the stories, Linda.
If you know of anyone traveling West on I-70 (West of Denver) there's a huge mudslide in both directions. This mud is about 5 feet deep!!

Y'all stay cool up in the PNW!!
Have a good Monday!!!

Good morning. Tropical Depression #4 is supposed to make landfall, or maybe it already did, today. Last night it was headed somewhere between Charleston and Savannah so no threat here, except maybe some rain from the outer bands. We need the rain so I'm OK with that.
I might go to Old Chicago later, pizza and beer for lunch sounds good.

Good afternoon BN'ers!!

I'm guessing a good chunk of the Michigan young uns like myself from the 60's & 70's have stopped at Castle Rock in St. Ignace Michigan just across the Mackinac Bridge & got up close & personal with PB & Babe for a photo op before climbing the Rock! Good Memories!

Today is also "State Drop Your Mask Day" in Pennsylvania.....effective today NO ONE IS REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK although businesses may still require them. And public transportation, following the US Dept of Health guidelines may require passengers to wear them.

Afternoon BNers
What a night...sleeping was not what I did. I tried but it didn't happen. And then had some horrific dreams. One was the worse....I had gone back to work!!!
And couldn't find the lunches!!
It was awful...a zillion hungry students and a principal that was angry with me.

Oh well...going to be a rainy week.

Reminds me of a buddy of mine. He used to frequent a particular bar back in the 80's. He got to know a gal working there....who did security..aka...bouncer. They went out on a date. She wanted to go see one of the Rambo movies

Anyone who has traveled the Pacific Coast Highway (AKA the Redwood Highway or just "101") has driven by Paul and Babe at "The Trees of Mystery" near Klamath, CA. https://californiathroughmylens.com/trees-of-mystery

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....

You (as in Seattle) made our morning news for your record breaking heat.
Hope Paul & Babe don't melt

The SIL and the bonus grandson came out today and was pulling up more carpet. Then my boss lady and her gentleman friend came out and went through 2 huge stacks of boxes of supplies and containers that we have had in storage for years and years after we closed our flower shop. Some things she's going to Save from the landfill and some things are too far gone or is something we aren't likely to use.... Spaghetti and Garlic Focaccia bread for dinner tonight.
