What about a Beach Boys song, like maybe "California Girls"? Jimmy is a self-confessed BIIIIIIIIIIIG Beach Boys fan.

CaptDave...now that is an interesting one that I would not have thought of but I bet it would be good! I heard a Reggae version of that song while in Jamaica last summer. I would like to hear his version of Here Comes the Sun.

In resopnse to the tune I'd most like JB to cover, hmmm.... I can't decide, so I'll proudly say that I and everyone at 9/29/01 in Chicago saw brilliance when the band covered City of New Orleans by Steve Goodman and In My Life by the Beatles. Not a dry eye in the entire place...Thanks JB!

I agree with a Beach Boys song... especially since JB is a surfer too. I think "Surfin' USA" would be a great live one.

I'd also like to hear him play Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds."

Maybe Paul Simon's "Graceland" would be a nice cover also... maybe not so much in concert, but in the studio I think he'd do a great job.

These would have been fun in Jimmy's younger days, but probably wouldn't go over as well for a 55-year old Jimmy (but you never know):

Skynyrd's "Gimme Three Steps" and "What's Your Name"

I know this will sound crazy, but as a Parrothead and Van Halen fan, how bout CABO WABO from Van Hagar's OU812

I mean a song by Van Halen which led Sammy Hagar to open a club in Cabo San Lucas and make a tequila sure is Buffettesque.

would be cool to hear "Robat" G. add some steeldrums to a CABO WABO

Below please find the lyrics for those who think I belong in the asylum for suggesting Buffett sing Van Halen

I've been to Rome, Dallas, Texas
Man, I thought I'd seen it all
Around the world, search in every corner
Man, I thought I'd hit the wall
There's a sleepy town, south of the Border
If you go there once, you'll be there twice
Lots of pretty girls, coming by the dozens
The white sand sure makes a tan look nice
We can crash on the beach
You know I wanna make love in the sea
We gotta try a little dance, so
It's alright by me
Come on, let me take you down
I will show you around
Let me take you down
Face down in Cabo
Kissing the ground
Land's end, you'd have to see it
Ain't no picture ever say it right
Walkin' the streets doing that ole, the
Place comes to life every night
I wanna crash on the beach
You know I wanna make love in the sea
It's all right there
We don't have to chase it
Fits paradise to a T
Come on, let me take you down
I will show you around
Let me take you down
Face down in Cabo
Kissing the ground
We drink Mescal right from the bottle
Salt shaker, little lick a lime, ohhh
Throwin' down, down tryin' to reach the bottom
Where the guave worm, well he's mine all mine
Come on, crash on the beach
You know I wanna make love in the sea
Go try a little dance, so
It's alright by me
Let me take you down
I will show you around
Let me take you down
Face down in Cabo
Kissing the ground
Face down,
Down in Cabo
Take me down,
Down to Cabo
Face down,
Down in Cabo
Doin' the
Take me down,
Down to Cabo
Come on, get it, get it

I can't believe no one has said "Escape(The Pina Colada Song)". Here are a few of the lyrics to remind some of you........

If you like Pina Coladas
or getting caught in the rain
If you're not into Yoga
If you have half a brain

Classic one the Jimmy would do a great job with. I also love the thought of another of my favorite singers Garth Brooks' hit "Two Pina Coladas"!!
Send me off to college, try to gain a little knowledge, and all I wanna do is learn how to score!

Beach Boys - Sloop John B. It can then go straight to the "Boats" CD on the next boxed set!

How about that new Cheryl Crow song - Soak Up the Sun? I haven't read the lyrics but I don't think they are gender specific.
Wishin' every month of the year could be June.

Sorry, I would rather him skip the covers and play a few more accoustice songs!!!!

If he wants to play more Steve Goodman, I guess I could live with that!

Billy Joel's "Piano Man" would be great sometime.

possibly:

Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Proud Mary
Born On The Bayou
Someday Never Comes
Up Round The Bend
Down On The Corner

and i was hoping for this song at the chicago shows in 2001

Proud To Be An American

Yes i know it is NOT a CCR song

I have a copy of a tape from 1974 recorded off an AM radio station with JB performing "Love Potion # 9". Bet most have never heard him do that one.
If you ever hit the road again, give me and Snake a call.
