Good morning BN. We lost power for 10 hours and the internet is still out. I'm sitting in our local diner to type.
I was surprised at how much pain in I was in this morning -- more than when I fell ???? What's up with that??? When I took the brace off to shower I was in horrible painSMLCHNG wrote: ↑October 27, 2022 9:36 am Good morning Bill, Ken, and BN!![]()
I agree - power outages s uck. Hope it's back soon, Bill.
Yesterday was a busy busy day, both at work and home. We're having a pot luck tomorrow with just my team, and I'm making my breakfast casserole. So last night I cooked the bacon, sausage, and ham. And also grated some of the cheese I'll use. Tonight I'll put it all together, and bake it in the morning before I head to work.
((((Linda)))) If you stop by, sorry you're still in lots of pain and such.
Was a rain/snow mix this morning - but supposed to have sunshine later.
We're also having a pumpkin contest tomorrow - no carving (hospital germy stuff), and I did one. It's goofy. I've seen a few that look pretty great so far.
Off to do some work. Not feeling it tho.![]()
Ha! I tuned in during that 1st intermission & watched for awhile. Heard them tell the story & made perfect sense to meLIPH wrote: ↑October 27, 2022 10:03 am Good morning. I went to vote yesterday and the line was out the door and halfway around the building. I went back to my car and went grocery shopping instead. I'll try again today.
There was a hockey game on TV last night, the Islanders played the Rangers. During the second period, they had former Islanders defenseman Denis Potvin in the broadcast booth, he has a line of socks coming out. That may not sound like it has anything to do with hockey, unless you know the backstory. This may take awhile ...
In 1979, the Islanders were playing the Rangers in Madison Square Garden. The Rangers had a Swedish player named Ulf Nilsson, he was one of the best players on the team. Potvin checked him into the boards, it was a good clean hit, no penalty was called. Nilsson's skate blade got caught in a rut in the ice, he went down awkwardly, broke his ankle and missed a lot of games. For the rest of the game, every time Potvin touched the puck the Rangers fans would chant "Potvin sucks". That went on for the rest of his career whenever the Islanders played in Madison Square Garden. Potvin's been retired for more than 30 years and even now Rangers fans sometimes spontaneously break out the "Potvin sucks" chant. Now, 43 years later, we have Potvin socks. They said during the game that 10% of proceeds from the sale of the socks will be donated to the Islanders Children's Foundation. I think I might buy a couple of pairs of socks.
