Need Vacay Recs TUESDAY @ the MSC
Good Morning Gang!
I know it may seem short notice but I'm trying to plan a vacation roughly the last week of July. Probably 7 days/6 nights, could shorten by a day or lengthen by a day. Open to driving or flying. Any Recommendations, suggestions or connections you may have for any condo's, cabins or homes to rent? Or hotels/motels that rated high on your lists? I'm open to wilderness, beachy, mountainous or even urban if the appeal is right. Staying within the continental USA.
Welcome to PM me with any info if you like or just comment here on the board.
Thanks, enjoy your 13th day of June!

Good morning, Ken. Sorry, but my vacay is Bar Harbor Maine and it's lousy with tourists in July.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning Ken and Bill!!
First I must say: GO NUGGETS!!!
First EVER NBA championship!!!
As far as places to go? We LOVE Galveston and Corpus Christi in Texas. Plenty to do, or not do.

Your point is valid about the timing, which is what does bug me about doing this vacay in late July. Prime Time no matter where we go. I'm accustomed to going somewhere May/June or late August/September to getaway from the crowds. Couldn't get away last month or this month.bodypainter wrote: ↑June 13, 2023 10:49 am Good morning, Ken. Sorry, but my vacay is Bar Harbor Maine and it's lousy with tourists in July.
Did a trip to the East Coast that included Bar Harbor before. Loved it there. Went there either 2011 or 12 for 3 days I believe. I'm thinking we went in mid June. Not too crowded but encountered a rainy day or 2. Still some great hiking around. Shuffled back down to Boston area & a had a Sandwich in Sandwich on the Cape one night. Had a Whale watch outta Massachusetts reserved that got cancelled due to weather.
Great idea though. I'd like to go back sometime though.

Good afternoon. The REO Speedwagon concert at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center is tonight. I haven't checked into the hotel yet but I made it to Stones Throw Brewing in Goose Creek, SC, about 10 miles from the hotel. I never heard of this brewer so I decided to get a flight. So far the blonde ale is very good and I'm about to move on to the hazy IPA.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

While I'm drinking my beer and eating my chicken tenders I was looking at their beer list. They have a seltzer called Brian Seltzer Orchestra.
Maybe I'll try it, Brian Setzer is a Long Island boy

I decided not to try the seltzer but I like the brewer's logo so I wanted to get a t-shirt. They only had small, medium and 2XL, I need a large. When I told the bartender, she called the manager over, the manager went in the back and got a shirt for me but she said that design was only for employees so I had to work there now.
They have some really good beer and the taproom is a nice place. Big roll-up garage type doors, ceiling fans and wide open spaces so you can see the brewing tanks. The next time I'm in town for a concert I might come back.

Re: Need Vacay Recs TUESDAY @ the MSC
I've been mia for awhile now and lots has happened since I finally got rid of the gout in my right ankle including 2 nasty falls, a 2 day hospital stay, x-rays and a battery of tests that determined that the 2nd fall produced a fracture of the left fibula and a fracture of the right foot. Neither serious enough to cast or splint, just kinda painful. I had 3 visits from home health, physical therapy and occupational therapy today. Tomorrow is a neurology appointment, later there will be a new PCP, a kidney specialist and an orthopedic specialist.
Bottom line is the second fall happened in the parking lot of my current PCP office last Tuesday and after that no one from his office called me, no one from the hospital called to schedule any of the other tests he said he ordered and I decided to go to Columbus to the ER on Friday and was admitted until Sunday. I had a follow up with the current PCP yesterday morning and they actually called and cancelled the appointment. If I had waited all weekend and hadn't gotten treatment I honestly don't know what would have happened. My kidneys were failing and I was severely dehydrated.
