The games get intense under the hot summer sun. On June 23rd, National Hydration Day reminds us to replace fluids lost in the heat of battle. The human body contains more than 60 percent water. Maintaining that balance while training is a challenge. And doing it during the summer months is a practice that must be consistent. Becoming overheated or dehydrated can lead to heat stroke and possibly death.
You can help prevent dehydration by being hydrated before a workout even begins. This essential step goes a long way to a more effective workout. If you are under-hydrated before you start, maintaining or catching up on hydration becomes difficult once the sweating starts. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the training, too. Fluids can include sports drinks that contain electrolytes (Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, and Potassium) to replenish the essential minerals the body loses through perspiration.
I have a water app on my phone to remind me to drink at least 64 oz. I always have a water bottle in the car, on my desk, next to my bed and on the end table when we sit down to watch TV. Kevin laughs every time we get in the car together and I have water with me. Even going 5 miles to church or the mall or anywhere else .
Much like food in which I'm good at eating the good stuff but I also eat too much of the bad stuff, I do a good job of drinking plenty of water daily. Unfortunately, I drink too much diet soda daily as well.
Having said that, I think I'll get my Bubba Mug full of water & commence hydrating!!
Enjoy your Friday Gang!
Corona by day, Corona by night, any old time is just alright!
Me, I have water on my desk at work all the time. We usually have water when running errands. When I'm home and doing chores, I don't always drink as much as I should.
E is in flight and should be landing in about an hour.
Good afternoon. It was a nice sunny morning but I wasted time so I didn't go out. It's raining pretty hard now so I won't go out. Oh well, there's probably something on the DVR to watch.

One of the things I'm grateful to my parents for is they never kept soda in the house so I never acquired a taste for it. I can't tell you how long it's been since the last time I drank soda, not even a rum & coke.
Did ya'll miss me?? We had an adventure. 2 nights ago, we were watching TV and the lights dimmed. A stormed blew up and boom...the lights were out. You know how dark it is at 9 pm without power??? We all have flashlights handy but Ryan brought me a bigger lantern. We heard sirens all night and fire trucks coming and going. The winds were between 40 and 80 mph. At IAH it was gusting 97 mph!!! We heard a noise and Ryan found a branch through an upstairs window. He and Larry duct taped and trash bagged it til morning. What a mess. The storm didn't last long. Still no power on Thursday and it was about 80 degrees in the house. We were going to go to In N Out when they opened for some food and a/c. At 10 am, the power popped back on! When we were driving, the area was a mess....rooves missing, signs gone, and so many trees and branches down. There are still area without power. With the temps in the 100's, I can't image being without a/c.
Anyway, we are fine. Power is back and they finally got the internet running.
Luckily we had an early game on the blackout day and a travel day yesterday so I didn't miss a game.
They have a game with the Dodger starting at 9:10 tonight
