Does it make sense that tickets are being released a couple days prior to the shows now more than ever before, because these venues are now all offering season tickets? If a venue opens for the season or a show approaches and such seats set aside for season tickets were not purchased, the venue then releases them for public sale. I know tickets are held back for the band etc., but, I can't recall such good seats coming on the market so late in the game and in the quantities they are becoming available in.

It happens all the time. They can come from all different types of sources. Sometimes there are lots good ones available. It's always worth looking...Except for Great Woods, don't waste your time for those shows.

I was actually serious when I posted that one. GW is such a difficult ticket they all get accounted for. I tried getting tickets for last years Sat. show from the guy who manages Billy Joel and Elton John. He was told he could have 4 for Thursday, but nothing doing for Sat.! And I'm not talking about someone from his office, I mean the main man himself picking up the phone and calling. It a giant pain getting tickets for that show.

As far as I know GW hasn't released Saturday Buffett tickets in a few years. 1998 or 99 we were meeting up with
a few friends who came later in front of the T-shirt stand at GW it was about 3PM, there was a long line at the box office
(same location) at about 6pm a few people we recognized from the front of that line were walking by looking for tickets, they said they waited over 10 hours only to be told none were being released. I have heard
stories of people getting front rows or great seats the day of the show from the box office.... heavy emphasis on the word
stories!

SA, last two years I sold my extras to those waiting in line at the box office the day of. That may be an option, but it's a little (actually a lot) risky going down w/o tix. I have no idea if those who remained in line ever got released tix day of at Camden. I don't have any tix, so you might see me praying in that line as well.

Ever since Mr. Jimmy Buffett started playing the E-center at camden, I have been to at least one concert every year and the over-whelming majority of the time i didn't have tix beforehand. Show up early, walk around the lots and you can always find tix. I've never been shut out and I've never paid more than $50 for a lawn seat.

At the risk of repeating myself...

I hate forking out large sums of money to purchase tickets from ebay or a broker but that is the only way I can get tickets. It is either pay or not go. I would rather go.

Besides I live quite a distance from most venues so the ticket cost is smaller than what I am going to pay for plane fare, hotel room and food/booze as well as t-shirts etc....... I look at it as a WHOLE PACKAGE when having the opportunity to see JB and am willing to pay. I am grateful to pull off one show a year and am willing to pay the price.

I am sorry if my actions indirectly affect others but what's a girl to do?

Everything depends on how bad you really want to go. I've seen a lot of people on this board talk about being able to get tickets in the parking lot and never being shut out but you know what, there's always a first and do you want it be this year and to happen to you. The last couple of years at Great Woods and 2 summers ago in Atlanta there were a large number of counterfit tickets being sold in the parking lot and many people got up to the gate and were turned away. This s***s big time and at that point the chances of finding the person who sold you the bum tickets is slim and none. Also, every venue says they do it but very few actually do and that is check tickets prior to entering the parking lot. For all you know this could be the year they start enforcing that rule and really put a d*mper on trying to find tickets the day of the show.
Saturday shows, no matter where, are hard tickets to come by but if you are looking for a tues/thur ticket check the local brokers a week or 10 days prior to the show. If they still have tickets they are wanting to unload them at that point and will usually do it at their cost or a little over. Ebay I would avoid if the date of the show is within 3 weeks no matter how reliable the seller is. Another option you may want to try is buying Rolling Stones or Eagles tickets and trading them with a broker for Buffett tickets. I did this last year with Madonna tickets, traded 2 $75 dollar tickets for 2 $50 dollar Buffett tickets. Like I said it all depends on how much you want to see Jimmy Buffett. I hate brokers (scalpers) as much as most people but my love and desire to see Jimmy Buffett out weighs my hate for scalpers so I try no matter what to have my tickets a long time before the day of the show. This year I was lucky, There were 3 of us at 3 different locations and we came up with 7 tickets for the thursday Great Woods show. If not I would be doing the hustle too trying to get tickets.
