Jimmy's Final Encore..

Post by Old Friend the Squid »

I hate to bring up such a hard subject, "but tragedy better become comedy real fast unless we're in alot of trouble"... I was just wondering, Heaven forbid, that when Jimmy finally hangs it up....what would you wish His final encore to be?

I would want to hear "Beyond The End". Its such a meaningful song to me, and I can just imagine the crowd singing the coda over and over again until we just boiled over with "hope and feeling".. Taking Jimmy's message and way of life literally Beyond The End.

My favorite encore ever was "In My Life" in Chicago 9/29/01
With my sketch pad and flares, tapes and battery spares--its just "no comprehendo" to what everyone says...

Yikes!!!! I hate to think of about it, but it will come at some point. The more I listen to Beyond the End, the more I like it. Here are some others that might work as well:

I refuse to even contemplate the thought.
Especially with my concert less than a week away. :-?

I don't think Jimmy will even get to choose this one.... He'll never quit, just go out in that final plane crash....

I don't think there will be a 'Final Farwell" show, God and health willing he will always finsd a way to be on stage, just like Sintara!

I agree with BOR......Bubba will always find a stage and a party....maybe not in the organized tour thing, but playing in public. But in the spirit of the thread.....any of these would work for me.
"Lovely Cruise"
"Oysters & Pearls"
"Tonight, I Just Need My Guitar"
"California Promises"
"Green Flash At Sunset"
"Island"
"The Last Line"

I think I'll also go with "Lovely Cruise".

I'd prefer not to think of such things though.

Maybe it'll be "Freebird". :P (That's a personal joke between me and anyone who's ever heard one of the East Hampton shows. If Jimmy reads this I'm bettin' he'll get a chuckle out of it...)

Wouldn't it be funny if Jimmy comes to this board and reads some of this stuff! Makes one wonder, last year there was no holds bared debate about the "Best Parking Lot" for Buffett, then Jimmy takes the stage and righte before Changes in Lat..... he says........

Take it away St. Somewhere, where is the clip!

If there was a "final encore" it should be "Lovely Cruise" or on a happier final note, a solo acoustic version of "Son of a Son of a Sailor".

My roots are in the South, and "Free Bird" would also work for me! :D

Well, since I don't really want to think about it..... and he said he would never to this song in public..... I would say " False Echoes" I love that song and I could see him dedicatin' his last song to his father....
Ok... let's not talk about it any more.....

Before stating my opinion: I hope, and HOPE that Jimmy plays for at LEAST 10-15 more years. He's not THAT old. But I would have to say that the last song in the final encore, of his final concert, years from now, I would like him to play:

The Last Mango in Paris

I just think it would personally be fitting. Because that is the song that got me started on him, so it would have been the first Buffett tune and the last in a way to me. And I think it is a GREEEEEATTTT story. I look forword to MANY MORE CONCERTS TO COME!!!!!!! :D :D :D
and Jimmy theres still so much to be done...
