BEWARE: CON MAN LARRY BLOOM

Post by The Nunz »

Yesterday morning I recieved a call from a man named Larry Bloom. He said he worked for a Publicity Agency that work along with JB. Well I have been looking for tickets to the JONES BEACH show for sometime after being shut out. He told me he got my name and info from this site and had tix for me. In my over zealousness not to miss a JB show in 10 years, I was blinded by everything around me and I just wanted those tix that sounded so good, as I look back TOO GOOD. His story was pretty well contrived and detailed, he didn't miss a beat.
So the only thing I can do now is warn other PARROTHEADS to be weary. He is the info he gave me, so if someone calls with the same info don't go thru with it.
The name he used was LARRY BLOOM, from Miami, FLA. The home address he gave was 2 Ocean Blvd., Penthouse #2500, with a phone number of (305) 642-9037. The number is a home phone/fax line.
Look out PARROTHEADS, some one is feeding on the unexpected and the wanting. I'm embarrassed and mad, and I wanted to warn as many as possible.

So... what happened?! What was the scam?

Did he take a credit card number from you? Did you send him cash? Was he trying to SELL the tix to you?

A little more info may not only protect people from the same scam, but also educate them about other ones...

He said he had 4 tix for me. I needed to wire $$ down to FLA and that the tix would be delivered to me by USPS the following day. The $$ went down and was withdrawn but tix never arrived.

Didn't this happen last year as well! I seem to recall a very similar story and I think it was the same name Larry Bllom! Question is how did he get you # from this board?

Please write this down for future reference:

Jimmy's PEOPLE are in Los Angeles.

They're very nice and they are professional . . . but they do NOT solicit business off the boards.

In fact, they have to sort through all the requests from the press and mete out the few reviewer tickets they are assigned.

Trust me on this one.

I don't know much about show business, but THIS I know.

I know that this does you absolutely no good now, but let me offer everybody here a little advice for future reference: When exchanging tickets and money, always have them shipped COD. I recently had tickets sent to me COD, and it cost me $9, which to me is worth it knowing that you don't pay until you actually have the tickets in hand.

The only danger with COD lies with the SELLER. If when the post office tries to deliver the tickets, the person who the tickets are being sent to is not home, they leave a pickup slip on the door telling the person to come to the post office to pick up their COD package. If after about a week, the person does not pick them up, the package is returned to the sender. And, obviously if in the elapsed time, the concert takes place, the seller is up a creek because they then have tickes for an event that is already taken place sent back to them. So, just be sure and allow plenty of time to make the transaction. Otherwise, you should have no problem exchanging tickets and money. Hope this helps.

Con Man - Larry Bloom

Well I have learned my lesson. "Fool me once, Shame on you,
Fool me twice shame on me!!!!! I got nailed and I'm better now for it. Like I said I learned my lesson, the hard way. I just wanted to warn as many people as possible. To get this guys name and his game out there so he won't be able to do it again. That this pond scum, doesn't really hurt someone and take them for a ride. So I am counting on the webboard and the chat room on Margaritaville.Com to spread the news about this guy. So please let as many people know, let the word go forth, BEWARE and don't be taken as I was.

Nunz, was he an "international investor"?

Sorry, I don't mean to make light of your lousy situation. Have you looked into reporting him to the FL state attorney's office? Who knows, if this guy runs this scam every year they might already have a file on him. It might be worth it, even if you can't get your $$ back, it might prevent him from doing it to other honest pholks who just want some tickets.

I did the COD thing this year, and my advice is to ALWAYS do it this way, but leave plenty of time because it took almost 10 days to get from the seller to me via first class mail COD.

Scumbags like that guy make me want to scream.

Hey Nunz - You're not the only one. This same guy screwed me back in April of this year. It didn't stop me from going to the Dallas show though, still had a great time. What a lesson that was.

And to all fellow PARROTHEADS - He get names and numbers from the ticket exchange here on Buffettnews. BEWARE of this guy from Miami.

This guy has gotta get stopped. Some way some how. I haven't exhausted all my alternatives yet, I have a few tricks left. I am glad to hear you guys (pac7days and txparrothead29) were still able to make the shows. The last time I saw JB was 11/16/01 at Madison Square Garden in support of the Trade Center Tradgey. Great Night, Great Show.

I think what we should do is, if you need tickets for a show----see if the person posts here, and is known, if not----why trust someone you dont even know at all. Ask ETP, AB, and Elrod----They got tickets for Alpine off us on Wednesday----and they were very happy too.

Thanks sirgumby77. I'll definitely look here first next time.

It sounds like this guy from Miami always uses Western Union to collect his money....there has to be a way to track him down.

Well from what I understand from the customer service rep at money gram, he needs a picture ID to get the cash. So he either has a false ID or he works in a money gram office waiting to recieve the funds.
