Lennie Gallant releases new album

Le vent bohème (The gypsy wind) will be in stores October 1, 2002

With 5 award winning albums to his credit, Lennie Gallant is taking things a step further and going bilingual with a new album of French songs. Gallant wrote all of the songs on the album, except for three that he co-wrote with Ronald Bourgeois. He has often included a French song or two in his English language performances and now has built up a repertoire where he can put on a concert entirely in English or French or a blend of the two, depending on the venue. This summer he headlined the Festival acadien de Charlottetown and one of the headliners at the Festival acadien de Caraquet and recorded a live concert in French for Radio-Canada, to be televised nationally later this year, in addition to his performing many English shows.

After his concert in Caraquet L'Acadie Nouvelle wrote "His ballads are like classics, gently caressing the audience, then later with other songs rocking them in their seats"..."The audience loved his energy on stage and the way he lifted the room."

While many artists have covered Gallant's English songs, the latest being Jimmy Buffett, several have also recorded his French songs (Hart Rouge, Tara MacLean, Ronald Bourgeois, etc.). In addition, Gallant was a principal songwriter on the widely popular "Acadie de nos coeurs" the theme song for the first Acadian World Congress (Congres mondial des Acadiens) co-written with Johnny Comeau and Jacques Gautreau.

"Making this album was something I dreamed about doing for years. I am of Acadian descent and three of my grandparents spoke French as a first language. Over time the language was lost in our area, although much of the Acadian culture survived. My parents don't speak it at all and I did not hear it much growing up, but I have been trying to get the language back through my music."

Gallant has signed a recording contract with TACCA Music Group, the French arm of the Donald K. Donald Music Group. Gallant's much anticipated sixth album, Le vent bohème (The gypsy wind), will be released October 1, 2002.
